Hann Pan or Huei Hann Pan is a survivor of the murder of the Pan couple in November 2010. He is a migrant who came to Canada in the late 1980s and started a family.
Pan was married to a woman with whom he had two children. He and his wife were one of the success stories of immigrants. However, in 2010, a terrible tragedy struck the family when Hann lost his beloved in first-degree murder.

Hann Pan Was A Political Refugee From Vietnam
Although Hanns has not disclosed his birth details, it is speculated that he was born around 1953. He was therefore 57 years old at the time of the November 2010 incident.
Hann, a political refugee, and Bitch Harpan met after immigrating to Canada. After the fall of Saigon, they both fled Vietnam separately.
They met, married, and became parents of two children, Jennifer and Felix. Hanns and Beech got engaged in Toronto and started living in Scarborough. In 1986, Jennifer was born and three years later they welcomed their son Felix.
The Vietnamese couple found work at Magna International, a car parts manufacturer. With their wages, Hann and his wife managed to buy a large house on a quiet residential street.
He First Worked At An Automobile Industry
Huei Hann Pan fled Vietnam and came to Canada in 1979. At Magna International, Hann initially worked as a tool and dealer, while his wife worked in the same factory that produced car parts.
Hanns wanted to provide for his children and his wife, so he worked hard to earn money.
By 2004, the Pan family was financially stable enough to buy a “big” house with a garage for two cars, all on a residential street in Markham, a city with a large Asian population. Hanns drove a Mercedes Benz C-Class W203 and Beech drove a Lexus ES 300. However, the family lived a very disciplined and frugal life in a beautiful house.

Hann Pan And His Wife, Bich Han Had Two Children
From the outside looking in, the Pan children were almost perfect. His son Felix Pan studied mechanical engineering at a prestigious university. Hann is said to have wanted his son to build cars, unlike him, who only assembled them.
His daughter Jennifer, on the other hand, received piano lessons at the age of four, as well as figure skating lessons, where she practiced most days of the week.
Jennifer was an Olympic-calibre figure skater, an award-winning pianist, and a student with good grades. As reported, Hanns wanted Jennifer to become a doctor. However, he later admitted that she did not have the stomach for it and wanted her to choose pharmacy as her career.
What Really Happened To Hann Pan And His Wife?
On 8 November 2010, his daughter, Jennifer Pana, plotted to kill her parents at their home in Pana’s residence in Unionville, Markham, Greater Toronto Area, Ontario. She, therefore, hired three men for the job: Eric Shawn “Sniper” Carty, Lenford Roy Crawford, and David Milvaganam.
Everything went according to her plan. The men took her parents to the basement and shot them; her mother died and her father went into an induced coma. Initially, she was free and no one suspected her. However, her plan was interrupted when her father returned from the induced coma.
What His Daughter, Jennifer Said After The Incident
On the night of the death, a surveillance camera outside Penn’s house recorded three intruders.
Hanna and Beech’s daughter Jennifer said that the attackers entered the house and one of them tied her hand on her back with a shoelace. The perpetrators then tied her to a railing on the second floor. She then reported that the men took her parents, Hanna and Beech, to the basement and the last she heard were gunshots.
Jennifer then called 911 and told them that the men had tied her up and she had heard gunshots. She complained that her father had gone outside screaming and asking her to hurry.
A little later, help arrived and they took Hanna Pan and his wife to the hospital. The doctors put Hannu in a coma, but his wife Biha had already lost her life in the basement. According to police reports, Panna’s wife Bich was shot several times in the back and finally fatally shot in the back of the head. The police had found Jennifer tied up, just as she had described in the call.
Hann Pan’s Daughter’s Story Didn’t Make Sense
To a stranger, Jennifer seemed a sad daughter. She seemed to have survived a terrible invasion in which her mother died and she almost lost her father.
But soon many people and investigators began to suspect her story.
First, people questioned how it was that she did not have a single scar, despite such a violent crime. Secondly, how did she manage to survive being the only witness? The police also found it hard to believe when Jennifer said on the phone that her father had left the house screaming. They rather thought that a father in such situations would rather look after his child.
From the very beginning, the officers did not want to believe Hanna’s daughter’s story and started following her closely. People also wondered why Jennifer did not shed tears even during her mother’s funeral.
Hann Pan Survived Coma
The police had taken no further action in connection with the murder of Pan. Until now, they had only Jennifer’s story. But then, three days after the attack, Hanna came out of her coma and the case took a new, serious turn. Doctors said it was a miracle that Hanns came out of the coma after being shot in the face at close range.
Shortly after regaining consciousness, Hanns remembered every detail of what happened in his house, the night he almost died, and the loss of his wife, Bee.
To everyone’s amazement, Hanns described the incident differently from the way his daughter Jennifer had described it.
He Told What Actually Happened
Hanns revealed in court that he was dragged out of the bedroom at gunpoint by the killers and that he saw another man with a gun talking gently to his daughter. He said that his daughter was not tied up.
Pan said that one of the men asked him “Where is the money?”. He added that they made him sit with his wife in the TV room. A third man then shot her in the head with a gun.
A Vietnamese immigrant reported that he told the intruders that he had only 60 US dollars in his wallet. The man with the gun then called him a liar and hit him on the head with the gun.
He explained that after they had taken him and his wife to the basement, his head was covered with a blanket. Hanns said that one of the men hit him on the head with a pistol and he lost consciousness. When he regained consciousness, he found his wife, Bikpan, lying dead on the floor. The assailants had shot three bullets into his wife’s head, killing her instantly. The shooters soon hit her husband with one bullet in the back and one through the face.
The Investigations Revealed Why Jennifer Pan Decided To Kill Her Own Parents
Apparently, Jennifer had a lot to do with her relationship with her parents when committing such harsh acts. Rather, it was her anger toward her parents that made her decide to take their lives.
As reported, Jennifer was nothing like the innocent grade-A student her parents wanted her to be.
She blamed the murders on her parents’ “tiger upbringing”. Hanns Penn had always put education above all else, but for Jennifer, the bar was allegedly too high.
The Pahns used to supervise their daughter’s extracurricular activities. They had forbidden Jennifer to meet boys during her high school years. This also applied to high school dances and even parties. According to her friends, Jennifer was not happy with such a restrictive and very oppressive upbringing.
Later, Jennifer began to lie to show herself to her parents as an honest student. She started making maps with a photocopier even though she had not finished school. Hanna’s daughter wrote a thank-you letter to an elite pharmacy school that her father wanted.
In reality, however, Jennifer had failed maths in her final year of high school. As a result, Ryerson University canceled her early admission. She also started lying to her family about wanting to go to the pharmacology program at the University of Toronto.
She Continued To Lie More
Hannah’s daughter Jennifer actually sat in cafés, taught piano, and worked in a restaurant to earn a living.
She even bought second-hand textbooks and watched pharmacology videos to make notebooks full of pretend lesson notes that she could show to Hannah and Beech. However, all she did was stay with her friend Daniel Chi-Kwong Wong. He was her high school sweetheart, about whom her parents knew nothing.
Jennifer lied to her parents again, saying that she had graduated from the University of Toronto. She also told them that she was volunteering at a hospital for sick children.
Hanns and Beech eventually discovered that everything their daughter had told them was a lie. Hanns then wanted to evict his daughter Jennifer from the house. But his wife, Beech, persuaded him to let her stay. The Pahns then gave Jennifer an ultimatum: go back to school, finish high school and never see Daniel again.
Further Discoveries From The Investigations Of Hann Pan’s Wife Murder
Sometime after Hanns had announced what had really happened, the police recovered some text messages from Jennifer’s phone. They revealed that Jennifer’s boyfriend Daniel had put her in touch with a known killer he had met while dealing drugs. In one of the text messages, Jennifer said: “I did everything for you”.
Police reported that Jennifer and her boyfriend had planned to hire a professional gunman to kill her parents for $10 000.
Apparently, Khan and Beech’s daughter would have inherited $500 000 when her parents died.
Then, on 8 November 2010, Jennifer gave the men the signal. One of the men’s names was Mylvagan. Shortly after, they carried out the murders.
After surviving in a coma, Hanns said he remembered his daughter coming down the stairs and talking to one of the men.
The Police Arrested Jennifer Pan With Four Other Men
The police did not question Jennifer until the night after the murder. It was not until 22 November 2010 that they arrested Hanna’s daughter. During her third interrogation at Markham police station, she admitted that she hired the killers, but claimed that she hired them to kill her.
Trial Of Hann Pan’s Daughter, Jennifer Pan
The trial of Jennifer Pan and the killers began on 19 March 2014 in Newmarket and lasted ten months. All initially pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to murder.
Police found that more than 100 text messages were sent between Pan and Wong in the six hours before the murder.
In his testimony, Hann said that he and his wife had savings and life insurance policies of USD 200 000, the beneficiaries of which were their two children.
Later, under cross-examination, Pan and her boyfriend Daniel told a different story. The discrepancy was that Pan had not been assaulted, blindfolded, taken to the basement, or shot.
The court eventually found Jennifer, Daniel Wong, Milvagnam, Carty, and Crawford guilty on 13 December 2014, and each received life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for 25 years.
Before Jennifer went to prison, her father, Hanns, expressed the hope that his daughter would think about what had happened to her family and become an honest person. However, he tried to have Jennifer banned from ever having any more contact with him and the rest of the family.

Where Is Jennifer Pan Now?
When the news broke in 2016, Jennifer was serving a sentence at the Grand Valley Women’s Institution in Kitchener, Ontario. Her boyfriend, Von, who was previously in Lindsey, Ontario, was at Collins Bay Institution in Kingston, Ontario. Mylvagan went to the Atlantic Institution in Renous, New Brunswick.
Crawford served his sentence at Kent Institution in Agassiz, British Columbia. Carty was in the provincial assessment unit at Millhaven. He later asked to go to a federal prison in western Canada or the Atlantic. He did go to Kent prison and died in his cell on 26 April 2018.
Sources report that when Hannah’s daughter completes 25 years in prison, that is, in 2039, she can ask for the procedural advantage of parole. If this proves acceptable, Jennifer could return to the streets.
What Did Hann Pan Say To His Daughter?
Jennifer’s father, Hann, explained after the final verdict that when he lost his wife, he also lost his daughter. He added that he no longer felt as if he had a family. Contrary to what people say, he said he does not feel lucky to be alive.
Both Hanns and his son Felix cut all contact with Jennifer after the conviction. After the incident, Han’s son Felix moved to the East Coast to find a job in a private technology company.
Toronto Life reported that Jennifer’s father is unable to work due to his injuries. For some time he suffered from anxiety attacks, insomnia, and nightmares. He also gave up gardening, working on cars, and listening to music. He was reported to be living with relatives nearby.
After his recovery, Hanns tried to sell the family home, but no one would buy it.
Where Is Hann Pan Today?
Not much is known about Hanns Pann lately. It is fairly certain that he is in his 60s, although whether he has remarried is a bit of a mystery. It is possible that he is still in contact with his son Felix. However, it seems less likely that he is the same guy he was before November 2010.
