Chris Hayes is not an unknown face, especially not among those who follow MSNBC all the time. He is an American journalist and political commentator who has become very popular on the television channel through his show “All In with Chris Hayes”. Before he started his current show, he also hosted “Up with Chris Hayes” on MSNBC. Here you can find everything worth knowing about him.
Chris Hayes Biography and Age
TV presenter Chris Hayes is of Italian and Irish descent and was born Christopher Loffredo Hayes. He was born on February 28, 1979, in the Bronx, New York. Together with his two other brothers, he grew up in New York with his parents, Roger and Geri Hayes. For his education, Hayes attended Hunter College High School in New York, and from there he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Brown University.
Soon after completing his education, Chris joined the Chicago Reader newspaper, where he covered political stories. From there he moved to the monthly In These Times, with which he spent the next 4 years. He continued to write until 2010 when he joined MSNBC and started to work as a guest presenter of some shows.
Once a fellow of the Bernard Schwartz and Edmond J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics, Chris Hayes began hosting his own shows on MSNBC in 2011, which became known as Up with Chris Hayes. In 2013 he left the show for All In with Chris Hayes, while Ed Schultz, who had previously hosted the show, switched to weekends.
The move was significant in many ways, as apart from being more responsible, he was the youngest person to host a prime time show for the major cable news channels.
Hayes has published many articles in various major magazines and newspapers in the country, although he is still editor of The Nation magazine. In addition to his work as a television show host, Hayes is also a writer. He published his first work, Twilight of the Elites: America After Meritocracy in 2002 and his second, A Colony in a Nation in 2017. Although there were not many reviews of his second work, the first was described by some critics as both convincing and provocative.
Family, Gay, Wife (Kate A. Shaw)
Chris came from a simple family with his parents and two brothers, Luke Hayes, who worked for Barack Obama’s campaign teams in 2008 and 2018, and Lynn Hayes.
If you’ve ever wondered if Chris Hayes is gay or not, he is not. Like any other social commentator, he has in the past expressed his views on same-sex marriage, which he fully supports and even joins the pride campaigns.
This has shown that he is heterosexual and even married. He has been married since 2007 to Kate A. Shaw, whom he met while studying at Brown University. Interestingly, Hayes had never had any kind of romantic relationship before he met Shaw, nor has he ever had one since he has been with her.
Just like her husband, Kate’s father, Andy Shaw worked as a newspaper reporter in Chicago, where he is very famous, in the media.
Not much is known about her personal life, but we do know that Kate A. Shaw is now an associate professor and co-director of the Floersheim Center for Constitutional Democracy at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She also specializes in constitutional law, legislation, administrative law, the Supreme Court, including gender and sexual orientation and law.
After spending more than 10 years as husband and wife, the union between the two is blessed with three children. Ryan Elizabeth Shaw-Hayes, who is her first daughter, was born in November 2011, while her second child, David Emanuel Shaw-Hayes, was born in 2014. The youngest of her children, Anya Shaw-Hayes, was born in 2018.
Height and Weight
There is little doubt that Chris is a man of good height and build. Even if he is not so athletically built, he is still well suited for himself. Expressed in numbers, he stands at a height of 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 m). As far as his body weight is concerned, this has not been announced, but as I said, he is in good shape.
