Patrick Stump is a multi-talented American musician, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and actor. He is known as the frontman of the rock band Fall Out Boy. He is also the rhythm guitarist and lead lyricist of the band.

Four studio albums by Fall Out Boy have made it to the top of the Billboard 200, and that is no small feat. However, after the band’s indefinite hiatus in late 2009, lead singer Patrick Stump went on to work on his solo career. Stump has enjoyed an equally illustrious music career as a solo artist.

Fall Out Boy regrouped in 2013, followed by the release of their fifth studio album, Save Rock and Roll, which debuted at #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200. The band released its 7th and 8th studio albums in 2015 and 2018 respectively.

The multi-talented artist was born on April 27, 1984, as Patrick Martin Stumph in Evanston, Illinois. In 2003, however, he decided to leave out the “h” in his last name to avoid mispronunciation. His mother Patricia (née Vaughn) worked as an accountant and his father David Stumph was a folk singer. He grew up with two older siblings in Glenview, Illinois. His parents’ marriage ended in divorce when he was 8 years old.

Patrick Stump received his high school education at Glenbrook South High School. His musical talents manifested themselves as a teenager. He started as a drummer and played in several bands in Chicago. Originally, he auditioned as a drummer for the band Fall Out Boy. Eventually, he became an indispensable lead singer, rhythm guitarist, and also the main composer of the band.

On May 6, 2003, Fall Out Boy released their first studio album, Take This to Your Grave. On May 3, 2005, the band released a second studio album entitled From Under the Cork Tree. This highly successful album marked the band’s breakthrough into the mainstream music industry. Fall Out Boy was also nominated for the Best New Artist Award at the 2005 Grammy Awards.

In 2007 the band released its third studio album Infinity on High, which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 record charts. The band released its fourth studio album in 2008, and the following year all members took an indefinite break.

For Patrick Stump, this hiatus led to his debut EP, Truant Wave, and his first studio album, Soul Punk, both of which were released in 2011. He also went on his first US tour as a solo artist to promote both works.

As a record producer and songwriter, Stump is credited with composing and producing a number of tracks for his band Fall Out Boy. He has also worked with other industry giants such as Timbaland, Bruno Mars, Tyga, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lupe Fiasco, and many others. Patrick Stump is indeed an all-around music genius.

Patrick Stump is married to Elisa Yao. Their relationship dates back to 2007. After being together for five years, the couple entered into a marriage in an intimate ceremony in the presence of friends and family on September 29, 2012. Their wedding coincided with that of Anne Hathaway with Adam Shulman and Jared Followill with Martha Patterson.

On October 13, 2014, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Declan. Patrick Stump lives with his family in Chicago.

The talented musician stands at a height of 5′ 4½” or 164 cm and weighs 73 kg or 160 lbs. After the break from his band Fall Out Boy, Patrick Stump attracted a lot of attention due to a drastic weight loss. The talented musician testified, however, that he had intentionally lost a few pounds in order to maintain his health. According to him, he was pre-diabetic with high cholesterol and high blood pressure. As a result, Stump made an effort to improve his diet in conjunction with regular exercise and was able to reduce his weight by 60 pounds.
