Dana Carvey is an American-born actress, stand-up comedienne, author, and producer. He achieved fame as an actor in the late 1980s in the long-running nighttime live TV show Saturday Night Live. As an actor, Carvey is best known for his leading role as Garth Algar in Wayne’s World film series.

Dana Thomas Carvey was born on 2 June 1955 in Missoula, Montana. His mother Billie Dahl and his father Bud Carvey were both teachers. He is of English, German, Irish, Norwegian and Swedish descent and grew up with 4 siblings, brothers Dana, Mark, and Scott, and sister Lori. The family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area of California when Dana Carvey was a toddler. Young Carvey began his high school education at Tierra Linda Junior High in San Carlos and later moved to Carlmont High School in Belmont, California. He received his college education at San Francisco State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communications.

They welcomed their first son Dex Carvey in 1991 and their second son Thomas Carvey was born in 1993.
