Yoo Hye-Yeon is a South Korean child educator and businesswoman, best known as the wife of Korean singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer PSY (Park Jae-sang).

Yoo’s husband Psy is known locally for his humorous music videos and stage performances, and internationally for his hit “Gangnam Style”, the first music video to reach one billion views on Youtube. PSY was the man who made the whole world dance weird steps and imitates cowboys on the dance floor.

However, little has been heard of the singer outside his native South Korea since then, and even less is known about his wife, Yoo Hye-Yeon. So what has happened to him and his wife in the years since the release of the catchiest song of the decade? Find out all about his recent work, but pay special attention to his wife Hye-Yeon; her life in general, her background, her career, and much more.

Yoo Hye-Yeon Birth, Father; Her Dad Served Two Years In Prison

Yoo Hye-Yeon was born in the same year as her husband, in 1977. Although not much is known about her mother, her father, Yoo Jae Yeol, was once the head of the Makjang Temple.

Yoo’s father was also reportedly a teacher at Shinchongji, Lee Man-hee, and in the 1960s was president of the Shinchongji Temple of the Testimony of Jesus (Shinchongji).

Yoo Jae-yeol, on the other hand, would have been involved in a fraud case as the head of the Mak-Jang temple.

He had told followers that the world would end on 1 November 1969. However, the apocalypse did not happen. A prosecutor’s investigation later revealed that after police arrested Yoo Jae Iol, some 20 people died of malnutrition because there was nothing to eat.

The deceased had reportedly believed his apocalyptic theory and sold all their possessions and moved to Siheung, Gyeonggi-do, the land of salvation. Yoo’s father also apparently misused donations from believers for his entertainment expenses.

Later, Lee Man-hee, president of the Shinchon-Ji church and a member of the Korean Christian Church Tabernacle, and other church members sued Yoo Jae-yeol in 1971 on more than 40 charges, including fraud and blackmail.

Four years later, the court arrested and convicted Yoo Jae-yeol in 1975. He then spent the next two years and six months in prison and four years on probation in a second trial. Hye-Yeol then went to the United States and returned to Korea, where he set up a construction company and earned tens of billions of won.
