Charles Luther Manson is the son of the notorious criminal Charles Manson. Luther’s father, the notorious Manson, led the Manson Family, a California-based sect. Between July and August 1969, nine people were killed by some of its members.

Charles, however, left his family while enjoying a traditional life as a father and husband. However, none of his family members – neither his ex-wives nor his children – had lasting relationships with him.

In fact, they seemed to have little or no interest in the convicted criminal. Moreover, each of them was quite good at hiding from public scrutiny, so much so that even the deaths of some of them did not reach the media. And one of those names is that of Charles Luther Manson, the second son of Charles Manson.

Charles Luther Manson Was Born In The ’60s

He was born on 24 September 1960, although the book The Life And Times of Charles Manson say he was born in early September 1961.

His Mother Was A Sex Worker From Los Angeles

Luther’s mother Candy Stevens, originally Leona Rae Musser, was born around 1940, according to Jeff Guinn in Manson, The Life and Times of Charles Manson-Simon & Schuster (2013).

Although it is not clear where her birthplace or family was, biographers have suggested that she was in Los Angeles, California, when she first met Manson. At the time, she was a prostitute. Although it is not clear whether she was encouraged by Charles to take up such work or whether she was in the profession from the start.

Similarly, in his book The Family: The Story of Charles Manson’s Dune Buggy Attack Battalion, author Ed Sanders reports that the police alleged that Stevens looked to them like a white woman.

Charles Luther Manson Married His Mother To Avoid Prison Times

According to biographies and reports, this was probably around the mid-1950s. And Luther’s mother worked for Charles on the street.

She too had once lied about her pregnancy to convince a judge and jury to pardon her husband’s murderer. Candy said that if they let her go, she and Manson would marry and start a family.

After getting out of prison in December 1959, Charles took Candy and another girl from California to New Mexico. However, they were caught by the police and the head of the Manson family was charged with violating the Mann Act, which prohibited the transportation of women across state lines for the purpose of prostitution.

Charles Luther Manson’s Parents’ Marriage Was A Sham

After his arrest, Manson tried to marry Stevens. He did this so she could not testify against him. Wives are forbidden by law to speak to their husbands. So Luther’s parents married in 1959.

Leona still testified, and her then-husband went to prison again. Apparently, she did this to get her charges dropped, thus becoming a “material witness”.

In March 1960, Leona became pregnant with Charles Luther Manson. She then gave birth to her and Charlie’s son in September 1960.

Luther’s biological parents, Leona and Manson, were officially divorced in January 1964. Candy gained full custody of her son.

Where Is His Mother, Candy Stevens Now?

Leona Rea Musser had little contact with her ex-husband after the divorce. Sources say that she did everything she could to hide herself and her son from slander and public attention.

So far, she has not made any headlines.

Meanwhile, Luther’s late criminal father got engaged again in November 2014 to a 26-year-old woman from Afton, Illinois, Elaine Burton. However, Manson and Burton could not marry because the former believed that his future wife only wanted to marry for publicity. Afton herself said that the wedding could not take place because Charles’ marriage license had expired.

Luther’s father, however, died on 19 November 2017.

Charles Luther Manson’s Sibling

Luther had a half-brother, Jay White (originally Charles Manson Jr). He was born during Charles Manson’s first marriage to Rosalie Jane Willis.

In 1993, White ended his life by shooting himself in the head in Burlington, Colorado. White’s estranged son, Jason Freeman, told CNN in 2012 that he believed his father took his own life because he was Manson’s son. However, White had left no suicide note.

Like his grandfather, Jason had a hard time growing up. He reportedly spent his childhood in juvenile detention centers, county jails,s and finally prisons. Although it has been quite some time since he started to live a clean life.

His Other Brother

Luther’s father, Charles Manson, also had a third son, Valentine Michael Manson. He was born in 1968 to his devoted follower Mary Bruner in a house in Topanga Canyon. Mary, a librarian at the University of Berkeley campus, was a Manson follower who joined the sect group the Manson Family.

Rumour has it that Manson named his son Valentine after a character in his favorite author Robert Heinlein’s novel Stranger In A Strange Land.

Like Luther and Manson Jr, Valentine did not live long under his father’s name. In 1970, Maria’s parents petitioned for custody of Valentin, which they won. They then changed Valentin’s name to Michael Brunner. Michael also reportedly considers his father an evil man and is very grateful that he grew up with his grandparents in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

How Many Other Siblings Did Charles Luther Manson Have?

It is still unclear how many children Manson had while he was still alive. When a journalist asked the late murderer in 1981 about the number of children he had, Manson replied,

“Uh, I don’t know. I’ve got lots of children, man. Uh, in fact sometimes I even think that you’re a child,”

Romper reports.

Until his death, there were people who claimed to be Manson’s children, but paternity tests for each of them showed otherwise. Some of those names were Zezozose Zadfrack Glutz, born to Susan Atkins, Phoenix, born to Katherine Shaare, and Ivan, born to Sandra Goode.

In addition, an aspiring rock musician from Los Angeles, Matthew Roberts, also claimed to be a Manson heir. Jason Freeman was another name who claimed to be Manson’s grandson, although his DNA test proved that he was from the Charles family. In addition, Rebecca Evans-Bonjadi from Los Angeles also claimed to be the criminal’s daughter, but no concrete evidence has been found so far.

Is He Still Alive?

Of the Manson children, Luther was the most successful in maintaining anonymity. He reportedly changed his name to Jay Charles Warner in 1976, the first name matching that of his deceased half-brother. He is said to have died in 2007 at the age of forty-seven. Some claimed that Warner was a tall man with blond hair and blue eyes.

Was Charles Luther Manson Married?

The secret life of Charles’s second son allowed almost no details of how he lived most of his life. Some people still believe that Jay is still alive, while others are convinced that he has settled a great deal.

Manson’s blog reported in April 2017 that Warner did have a family and at least a daughter. In fact, she also provided a photo of him, albeit blurry. However, people claim that this theory lacks DNA tests and everything else.
