Leslie Bogart was born on 23 August 1952 in Los Angeles, California. The Los Angeles-born actress took her name from Leslie Howard, actress in Gone With The Wind and former close friend of her father Humphrey Bogart.
On her father’s side, Leslie Bogart is of English, Dutch, distant German and French, distant Belgian [Walloon], Welsh and Norwegian descent.
On her mother’s side, Leslie’s ethnic origins include Askenai Jews, Romanians via Ellis Island, and Valoisin, a predominantly Jewish community in what is now Belarus.

Leslie Is A Nurse Turned Yoga Teacher
Like her brother Stephen, Leslie never wanted to follow her parents’ careers as actresses. Instead, she grew up to be a nurse and yoga teacher.
Before yoga, she worked as a registered nurse from the 1970s until the early 1980s. As a registered nurse, she worked with people with physical and emotional illnesses.
In the 1980s she moved to California and began to focus on learning and teaching Hatha Yoga. Leslie began practicing yoga in 1982 and received her first certification to teach yoga in 1985.
In addition to her work as a physical therapist, Bogart continued to study with various yoga teachers, soon immersing herself in yoga as therapy. The daughter of an Academy Award winner, she also studied yoga with Gary Kaftsov in 1987 and still appreciates, respects, and values his teachings and work today.
