Tara Setmayer is known for her role as a political analyst at the international news channel CNN. She also appears on several prime-time news programs on various platforms, including The View and Good Morning America on ABC and Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO.

Tara Olivia Setmayer was born on 9 September 1975 in Queens, New York. She is of mixed race; her mother is Caucasian with European roots and her father is African-American. Setmayer identifies herself as a “colored woman” but not as an African American.

The media personality grew up in Paramus, a borough of Bergen County in northern New Jersey. She received her high school education at Paramus High School in New Jersey, where she graduated in 1993. She received her college education at George Washington University in Washington D.C. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1998.

Although she grew up in a predominantly democratic population, Setmayer proved to be a convinced conservative. She is a courageous and confident analyst known for her “tell it like it is” commentary style. She describes herself as a “healthy conservative” and is widely regarded as a vocal critic of the government of Donald Trump, the President of the United States.

Prior to her television career, Tara Setmayer worked as Communications Director for California GOP Congresswoman Dana Rohrabacher (2006-2013) on Capitol Hill. She also worked on immigration and law enforcement issues. During this time, she worked tirelessly to secure the release of detained U.S. border guards Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who had been wrongfully detained.

Setmayer also served as a resource person for the Republican state and local political education organization GOPAC. She also served as a research fellow and communications expert for the Coalition on Urban Renewal & Education (CURE), a Washington-based conservative political organization.

All these roles have enabled her to act as a credible expert on political issues in the United States. From 2013 to 2014, Tara Setmayer co-hosted the nightly news show on The Blaze TV. She was also a guest presenter on the SiriusXM satellite/online radio network.

Tara Setmayer joined CNN in 2014. She played a key role in the 2014 and 2016 U.S. elections and regularly appeared on several of the station’s prime-time political programs, including CNN’s news desk, Erin Burnett OutFront, Anderson Cooper 360°, and CNN Tonight with Don Lemon. Tara Setmayer was named one of the “Top 20 Election Coverage Stars” of the 2016 US elections by Vulture.com.

Her Family – Parents and Husband

Tara Setmayer’s mother Jacquelyn Setmayer is half Italian and half German. There is little information about her father, except that he is originally from Guatemala. She was raised by her mother in Paramus, New Jersey. Her mother’s family had lived in Paramus for ages. Her maternal grandfather, Emil Setmayer, was an officer in the Paramus police force before his retirement.

Tara Setmayer is currently married to Marcelle Love. The couple entered into the bond of marriage on September 4, 2013, in a private ceremony at the Castello di Caccamo in the Italian coastal city of Sicily. Just like her father, there is little public information about her husband Marcelle, but we know that he is an officer of the law. The couple lives in Newyork City.
