Robert Hepler Lowe was born on 17 March 1964 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Robert Lowe’s mother Barbara Lynn (née Hepler) was a teacher and his father Charles Davis Lowe was a lawyer. He completed his high school education at Santa Monica High School.
In the 1980s he gave acting a chance for the first time as one of the core members of the “Brat Pack”, a group that included Demi Moore and Charlie Sheen. Rob Lowe made his debut on the big screen when he appeared in the 1983 film The Outsiders. He received his first Golden Globe nomination in 1983 for his role in the telefilm Thursday’s Child. Several other prominent roles followed, making Lowe one of the hottest heartthrobs of the 80s.
His flourishing career almost came to a halt, however, when he became involved in a sex scandal involving a minor. He was eventually sentenced to 20 hours of community service. On March 17, 1990, Rob Lowe showed his comedic side as the host of an episode of Saturday Night Live.
