Paul Anka is a pop singer and songwriter who is considered one of the best classical singers to have been around for more than half a century. Although he is known worldwide mainly for his music, Anka has also appeared in a number of films and television series.
Paul Anka Bio and Age
The Canadian singer and actor were born on July 30, 1941, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, as Paul Albert Anka. While his father, Andrew Emile “Andy” Anka Sr. was a Syrian-American, his mother, Camelia Anka, was a Canadian-Lebanese.
Paul Anka grew up with a brother and sister as the eldest child in a Christian family. Even as a child, Paul Anka had a talent for singing, and at the same time he was good at sports, but the former was what he would find himself with. By the age of 11, he had already started singing in nightclubs.
Although his father’s emphasis was on ensuring that his son received a good education, when he attended Fisher Park High School, Paul put his emphasis on singing and became part of the Bobby Soxers, who was a singing trio. Soon after, he began composing his own songs, but his father sent him to Los Angeles so he could concentrate on his education.
However, his musical talent attracted the interest of his uncle, who introduced the young lad to Ernie Freeman, a music producer who helped Anka record his first songs, which sold only 3,000 copies. He then returned to Canada, where he dreamed of a career as a lawyer or newsreader. Nevertheless, during a vacation in the USA, in New York, he returned to a Canadian quartet, the Rover Boys. He met Don Costa of ABC-Paramount, and within a month a contract was signed and Diana was released. The song was to sell over nine million copies and launch a long and successful career for him.
His first album, Paul Anka, was released in 1958. In the following years, he made many more albums and singles, which were very successful all over the world. With what he has achieved as a singer and songwriter, he was named Composer of the Year at the 1975 Juno Awards and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1980 and the Canadian Walk of Fame in 2005.
Aside from music, the legend has also appeared in a number of film productions, including the 1964 TC series, Valentine’s Day, The Red Skelton Hour (1965), The Fall Guy (1983), Crime Story (1987), and Ordinary Magic (1993).

Wife and Children
When it comes to relationships, the singer has his own very fair share, as he has been married up to three times. He married for the first time in 1963, to a model, Anne de Zogheb. He met Anne, the daughter of a Lebanese diplomat, in 2012 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, when she had a fashion assignment.
Just one year after the meeting, Anne De Zogheb and Paul Anka became man and wife, and when the couple had their second child, she decided to leave modeling for good.
Although the marriage was blessed with five children: Amanda Anka, Anthea Anka, Alexandra Anka, Alicia Anka, and Amelia Anka, it was not to be forever, because in 2000 Paul and Anne decided to end the marriage after being together for over three decades.
Unfortunately, Anne De Zogheb, who was also of English, French, Dutch, and Greek descent, died on March 29, 2017.
The next woman to be married to the legendary singer was the American model, actress, and author Anna Anka. The two met after she was hired as his personal trainer in 2001. Although they did not marry until 2008, they had been together long before that, and in 2005 she gave birth to Anka’s sixth child, a son. She also had a daughter from a previous marriage.
Unfortunately, the marriage of Paul and Anna Anka ended in 2010, although Paul did not file the divorce papers until 2009.
In 2016, the then 75-year-old singer married Lisa Pemberton for a third time after six years with her.
