Muhammad Wilkerson would be a force on the defensive line for any team he plays for, thanks to his impressive size and massive weight combined with his football intelligence ratio. He was selected by the New York Jets in the 2011 draft as their 30th overall candidate and spent the next seven seasons of his career with the team.

After his release, he was signed by the Green Bay Packers for a year to continue his heroics as a defensive player. In his career to date, Wilkerson has been selected by Associated Press for the second all-pro team and his first career in the Pro Bowl in 2013 and 2015 respectively.

In the Packers, which he joined in 2018, he would play with one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, Aaron Rodgers, along with his colleagues Kenny Clark and Mike Daniels, a 2017 Pro Bowler.

Muhammad Wilkerson Age and Early Life

Muhammad Wilkerson was born on October 22, 1989, in Linden, New Jersey, and attended Linden High School, New Jersey, where he recorded 78 tackles, five sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in his last season. He also set a great record in his junior season and was appointed to the first team of the All-Watchung Conference. Not only did he excel on the field in high school, but he also excelled on the basketball team, leading his team to state titles in both junior and senior seasons.

After graduating from high school, Muhammad spent a year at Hargrave Military Academy before transferring to Temple University in 2008. He was named to the All-MAC first-team selection and, after his junior season, MVP of the defensive team.

After a successful career with Temple, he was predicted by analysts to be a first-round contender, although he was initially called a sleeper candidate, a fact that was reversed after positive results in the NFL Combine and Temple’s Pro-Day session. Finally, he was selected by the New York Jets as the 30th overall candidate. Shortly after his design, he signed a four-year contract with the Jets in July worth $7.4 million.

Muhammad Wilkerson’s Parents and Family

The 2011 first-round selection was made by devout Muslim parents; his mother Janice is a breast cancer survivor and his father Alvin Wilkerson. He has three siblings – Haseez Brown, Zakkiyah Wilkerson, and La Quan Brown.

Muhammad Wilkerson is closest to his mother, whose name he has tattooed in a cancer ribbon on his right arm, and calls her the source of his strength. Throughout the entire time that the father of the defense was incarcerated, his mother was there to make the family work and to keep it together. She worked three jobs at once, all in health care and public service, to keep the family going, and drove him from Jersey to Nashville, Tennessee to play basketball in middle school.
