The actor of Canadian and Italian descent was born on December 11, 1969, in New York as Maximilian Carlo Martini. He grew up together with two siblings, Christopher Martini, and Michelle Martini. It is not surprising that he found his way into the world of creativity, as his father was a sculptor and reform artist, while his mother was a private detective.
The actor and his siblings were raised mostly by their mother Patricia Martini Margolin after their parent’s marriage ended in divorce. When Pat married again, the family would move to Salt Spring Island and live on a farmhouse where Max, his brother, and sister grew up.
