Lil Uzi Vert’s Early Life and Education
Symere Bysil Woods known by their stage name was born on July 31, 1995, in the Francisville neighborhood of North Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Growing up Woods loved listening to artists like Mike Jones and the Ying Yang Twins. Jones’ 2005 debut album was the very first one Woods bought. As they grew older, they got into the music of Wiz Khalifa and Meek Mill who would go on to shape their musical style.
At 13 Woods’ musical tastes expanded to include a wide range of bands and artists such as Marilyn Manson Paramore Smash Mouth the Rocket Summer Simian My Chemical Romance and The All-American Rejects.
Woods decided to drop out of school and took a job at a Bottom Dollar store. However, they quit after just four days and their mother kicked them out of the house. In 2010 Lil Uzi Vert started rapping after hearing his classmate William Aston freestyle over a remixed Chris Brown song. At that time Uzi Vert wasn’t initially interested in rapping. Together with Aston and another friend they formed a group called Steaktown and just to make money started performing under the name “Sealab Vertical”. Later inspired by someone describing his rap style as fast like a machine gun they changed their name to Lil Uzi Vert.
His first EP “Purple Thoughtz Vol. 1” came out on January 19, 2014. It was known for its psychedelic beats and trippy production, especially the single “White Shit” which went viral in 2017. After the EP’s release, Lil Uzi Vert caught the attention of industry heavyweights like ASAP Mob.

However, leaks of several Barter 16 tracks on August 19 2023 led to its cancellation shifting Uzi’s focus back to Luv Is Rage 3.

But they broke up in 2017 and Woods released a song called “Stole Your Luv” about it. Since 2019 Woods has been dating JT from City Girls.

Controversies
People have accused Lil Uzi Vert of being a Satanist. It started when a rapper named Daylyt said Uzi worships Satan. Some folks also noticed that “Lil Uzi Vert” sounds a bit like “Lucifer.” In 2018 Uzi even told fans they were all going to hell.
In 2017, Uzi stirred up trouble by posting things on social media that seemed linked to Satanism like using “666” and sharing images related to it. At one point Uzi’s record label even took away their Instagram because of this.
But in 2023, Lil Uzi Vert said they don’t believe in Satan. They explained that when they talk about Satan it’s more like a figure of speech, not something they believe in.
Legal issues
Back on December 8, 2016, Woods got arrested in Atlanta for driving a dirtbike recklessly. Woods and a friend were riding the dirtbike without proper lights or helmets when the police spotted them. They tried to escape but Woods fell off the bike. He then tried to run but got caught. He had to pay a $6500 bond.
Later in November 2017, Woods settled the charge by doing community service. Then in October 2020 Woods and some others were arrested in Philadelphia after a paintball gun fight on the streets. They got caught because they posted a video of the fight on Instagram.
On July 2 2021 there was a fight between Woods and Saint Jhn because Saint Jhn was with their ex-girlfriend Brittany Byrd. Woods showed a gun during the fight but no one got hurt.
Then on July 6, 2021, XXL magazine said Woods hurt Byrd by hitting her and pointing a gun at her. Woods didn’t say anything about this.
Later on February 2, 2022, TMZ said Woods admitted in court to using a gun to hurt someone and causing a smaller injury. Woods agreed to a deal with the court for three years of probation mental health and substance abuse treatment counseling for domestic violence paying money for damages and staying away from the person they hurt for ten years.
