Julia Fox was born in Milan, Italy. Her mom Gracie is Italian and her dad Thomas Fox is American and worked as a contractor. Her parents split when she was young. Julia has two siblings.

She spent her early years with her grandfather in Saronno a small town near Milan while her mom finished college. During this time her dad lived on a boat near New York City. In Italy, she lived in a small apartment with her mom’s family and grew up in a Catholic home. When she turned six she moved to New York City to live with her dad in Manhattan while still visiting her mom in Italy.

At 14, Julia Fox returned to Italy to stay with a family near her mom’s hometown and attended a private Catholic school. She left that family because of issues with smoking and skipping school then stayed alone in her mom’s empty apartment until going back to New York.

Growing up Julia faced periods of homelessness and had a tough relationship with her parents. Julia Fox began her career as a fashion designer starting a successful women’s knitwear line called Franziska Fox together with her friend Briana Andalore. She’s also worked as a model including posing for Playboy’s final nude edition in 2015 and as a painter and photographer. Julia self-published two photography books: “Symptomatic of a Relationship Gone Sour: Heartburn/Nausea” in 2015 and “PTSD” in 2016. In 2017 she hosted an art exhibit titled “R.I.P. Julia Fox” featuring silk canvases painted with her blood.

In November 2018, Julia Fox got married to Peter Artemiev who is a private pilot. They lived together in Yorkville Manhattan but their marriage ended in divorce in July 2020. They have a son named Valentino born on January 17, 2021. Fox revealed his birth on February 14 of the same year. In October 2022, she shared that she struggled with postpartum depression after giving birth.

Fox also disclosed that she deals with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) and is on the autism spectrum. She mentioned having bipolar disorder in an episode of the podcast Forbidden Fruit that she co-hosts.
