Jordi Alba is a left-back for Catalan club FC Barcelona. Alba’s path to professional football was one of many ups and downs that were initially rejected by the coaches of the Barca youth team because of his small stature. Jordi Alba was born in Barcelona on 21 March 1989, the son of parents Miguel Abla and Maria Jose. He joined a hospitality club in the neighborhood in 1996. The following year he was discovered by scouts in Barcelona and was taken up by the La Masia Youth Academy in Barcelona. After spending eight years at the academy, he was found to be physically unfit in 2005 and therefore joined Cornellà.

After two years in Cornellà, he was signed by Valencia in 2007 for 6,000 euros. He made his La Liga debut only on 13 September 2009, and due to injuries to the club’s defenders, Jordi Alba had more chances in the first team. Thanks to his attacking prowess, he had the flexibility needed to continue in the outfield with coach Unai Emery.
By the 2010 season, Alba had become an integral part of the Valencia side and helped the club to third place. Under Emery’s guidance, Alba improved the defensive of his game and became a more complete fullback. In the 2011 season, Jordi Alba consolidated his position as Valencia’s first-choice left-back after a string of impressive performances, with the major European clubs beginning to seek his signature.
The temptation to return to his former side was too great to refuse, and on 28 June 2012 Alba signed a five-year contract with FC Barcelona for a redemption sum of around 14 million euros. He made his debut against Real Sociedad on 19 August 2012, and in his first season in Barcelona under coach Tito Villanova the club fought their way back to the La Liga title under Real Madrid.
On 2 June 2015, Jordi Alba was offered a five-year extension to his contract with Barcelona in response to their growing numbers and as a reward for his impressive performances. With a weekly salary of 100,000 pounds sterling, his new contract expires in 2020 with a buyout clause of 150 million euros.
Six days after signing his new contract, he scored against Italian club Juventus in the UEFA Champions League final to give them a hat-trick for the season’s title. Barca won the Champions League, the Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Super Cup.
Jordi Alba’s game, blessed with a rapid pace, is based on his solid technical ability and constant excursions into attacking third. Jordi Alba has played for Spain at the under-19 and under-20 levels. He was part of the Spanish team at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
He received his first call-up to the senior national team in September 2011 for the Euro qualification against Scotland and the Czech Republic. He made his full debut against Scotland, a game in which he supported David Silva in goal.

Jordi Alba was a key member of the Spanish national team that won the Euro in 2012. In 2014 Alba was part of the Spanish team that tried to defend their World Cup title at the tournament held in Brazil. The campaign ended in disaster, as the Spanish were embarrassingly eliminated in the group stage of the tournament.

On 18 January 2018, the two traveled to Instagram to announce the birth of their son Piero.
