Jason Mantzoukas is an actor best known for his roles as Derek Hoffstetler in A Good Place, Nadal in The Dictator, and Rafi in The League. His role as Rafi in the FX comedy The League immediately made him popular with the show’s fans on a national and international level. His character was obnoxious and borderline psychopathic. However, Jason managed to portray him as likable, which made him an immediate favorite with the fans.

Jason Mantzoukas was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on December 18, 1972, the son of William and Cynthia Mantzoukas. Although he was born in Lynn, he grew up near Nahant.

The actor’s ethnicity has often been questioned as he can easily pass for both Arab and Hispanic. However, the actor has shown that he is of Greek descent. Although he is known for his acting abilities and his comedic timing, Jason is actually an accomplished drummer. He started playing drums when he attended Swampscott High School.

His Career

As far as we can tell, Jason’s career began at Middlebury College, where he performed improvisational comedies. Later, after college, he traveled to the Middle East and North Africa.

After school, he moved to New York and began performing regularly as a comedian at the UCBT – Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. During his time at the UCBT, he was a member of “Mother”, an improvisation team, and one of the first house teams of the theatre. Despite his fame, he continues to teach at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in Los Angeles.

Since then he has performed in Parks and Recreation, Modern Family, The Life & Times of Tim, Kroll Show, Broad City, and Enlightened. On the Kroll Show, he played Eagle Wing in the “Gigolo House” sketches.

In 2018 Jason became the new voice of “Mr. Mucus” for the Mucinex commercials and replaced T.J. Miller.
