As an early starter, Ivan Rabb, who started shooting baskets at the age of seven, soon made the game a lucrative career. In his formative years, he was named by Rivals.com as one of the best high school recruits in the 2015 class. As one might expect, his career did not end in high school, but he played college basketball at the University of California for two seasons, whereupon he was selected in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft. Ivan Rabb Biography

The American professional basketball player was born on February 4, 1997, in Oakland, California. Apart from the fact that he was named after his father and his mother is named Tami Rabb, not much is known about his parents. His only known sibling is Tamarik, and he is also the cousin of NFL player Reggie Rogers.

Before he was seven years old, Ivan started basketball and continued his high school years at Bishop O’Dowd High School, where he achieved a GPA of 3.15 and won two CIF Open Northern California Division basketball championships and a CIF Open Division State Championship. The game continued for Ivan Rabb at the University of California at Berkeley, where he finished eighth in the 2015 ESPN Top 100 Recruits. Deciding which college to attend was not easy for the baller, as he had a long list of institutions to choose from, including Arizona, Cal, Duke, Georgetown, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, UCLA, and USC.

The list was later reduced to five – Arizona, Cal, Kansas, Kentucky, and UCLA, with Arizona and Cal being the last two until March 2015. Eventually, the University of California, Berkeley, won the competition, and he signed up to play for the Golden Bears. Meanwhile, his high school seasons have been honored with awards, including the CIF Open Division State Championship 2015, the CIF Northern California Open Division Championship 2014, the CIF Northern California Open Division Championship 2015, and also the McDonald’s All-American in 2015.

Ivan Rabb’s first season was a big bang with All-Pac 12 honors from the second team that selected him as the lottery pick for the NBA that year. Nevertheless, Rabb decided to continue with college, turning his back on the 2016 NBA draft, despite its great potential. Before the 2016-17 season, he was named All-American of the preseason by the Associated Press.

Although he turned his back on the NBA after his first year, Ivan failed to finish his second season for the second time, and on March 22, 2017, he announced his intention to participate in the NBA Draft of 2017. This meant that his last two years of college eligibility were abruptly interrupted.

His NBA Career

During the 2017 NBA Draft, the American basketball player was selected in 5th place and 35th in the second round. He was initially selected by the Orlando Magic, but before he could show off his skills with the rest of the team, he switched to the Memphis Grizzlies.

He then spent his first season in the big league with the grizzlies, but it wasn’t until September 18, 2017, that he signed a three-year rookie pact with the team, with full guarantees for his first two seasons. His debut with the team involved a variety of tasks, which he performed with the Memphis Hustle, the grizzly’s G-League partner.

Ivan Rabb not only plays in the National Basketball Association (NBA) but also makes his skills available to the U16 national team of the US men’s basketball team. He was part of the team that set a first-class 5-0 record at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship, which was held in Maldonado, Uruguay. Rabb started three games at the event and scored an average of 12.0 points and 9.8 rebounds. At the end of the tournament, the team won the gold medal.
