The Carolina Panthers kicker, Graham Gano, is one of the best placekickers to hit the waves in the NFL. He began his professional football career in 2009 when he signed up with the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League as a free player without a contract. He then played for the United Football League’s Las Vegas Locomotives and the Washington Redskins before joining the Carolina Panthers. Interestingly, the superstar was called to the 2017 Pro Bowl; in 2009 he won the UFL Championship and was named All-ACC First Team in 2008.

Graham Gano first entered this world on April 9, 1987, when he was born in Arbroath, Scotland. His father Mark Gano worked as Chief Petty Officer of the US Navy Master in Scotland, where he was born. He has five other siblings, Allan Marnie, Elaine Marnie, Stewart Marnie, Daniel Gano, and Joshua Gano. He grew up in Cantonment, Florida, where he attended J. M. Tate High School. During his time there, he participated in both soccer and athletics events. His nationality is American, while his ethnicity is white.

During his high school football career, he was named All-American First Team by USA Today and the third kicker in the nation by Rivals.com. In the 2005 FHSAA 3A District 1 competitions, he held three state titles in 100-meter, 200-meter, and 400-meter shots. From 2005 to 2008, Gano played for the Florida Seminoles soccer team. He played both as a kicker and a punter. He won the 2008 Lou Groza Award for Best Foosball Player in the Nation and was also named to the All-ACC first team. He also won the 2008 Champs Sports Bowl Most Valuable Player and finished his college career as the second player with the most 50-yard field goals behind Sebastian Janikowski.

Professional Career and Stats

After the 2009 NFL draft, Graham Gano joined the Baltimore Ravens as an undeveloped free agent. He was later removed after the Ravens named Steve Hauschka as their placeholder. It was a tough time for Graham who didn’t get the chance to play professionally. A short time later he joined the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League, where he earned his first career points. He was responsible for the Locomotives’ victorious field goal that earned them their first UFL championship title. He ended the season leading the team in both shooting and field goals.

In December 2009, Gano signed with the Washington Redskins, where he replaced Shaun Suisham, who retired. He became the Redskins’ starting point for the rest of the 2009 season, and the following year he had to fight with Shayne Graham for the starting jersey. After making the final selection for the Redskins in the 2010 season, he retained it the following year. He ended the 2011 season with a record of 31 field goals in 41 attempts and five misses in 10 blocked shots.

Following his release by the Redskins, Graham signed with the Carolina Panthers in November 2012 to replace Justin Medlock. Gano played six games for the Panthers and scored nine of eleven field goals. He was awarded a four-year $12.4 million contract extension with the Panthers in 2014 and led the team to the best 7-0 start in the franchise in 2015. The following season, he helped the Panthers to a 14-0 record and ended the season on 146 points. He was also nominated for the Pro Bowl 2017.

Gano experienced a breakthrough in his professional career in 2017, scoring 29 of 30 field-goal attempts and also turning 70 of 83 kicks into touchbacks. He finished the season with a total of 121 points, making it the fourth consecutive season with over 100 points and being nominated to the Pro Bowl. For his outstanding performance in 2017, he was awarded the Ed Block Courage Prize. He also signed another four-year contract extension with the Panthers in March 2018.

Gano was married to the love of his life, who was named Brittany Gano in high school. The gorgeous lady was born Brittany Osmon and grew up in San Diego, California. Not much information is available to her for media consumption, so not much can be said about her childhood life and career. All we could find out is that the perfect couple first met at Florida State University. Their relationship lasted for a while before they entered into marriage.

They welcomed their first bundle of joy, a son named Bryson Gano in 2011. A few years later, it was a double celebration for Gano and his family when he signed a $12 million four-year contract with the Panthers; his wife gave birth to another baby boy in the same year, 2014.
