With their successful entry into the final round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, France was not only one of the biggest teams, but also one of the three with the youngest players. One of the footballers who has helped the team to be as good as it was in the tournament and still one of the youngest is Corentin Tolisso. In addition to his work for the French national team, Tolisso also plays in the Bundesliga as a midfielder for Bayern Munich.

Corentin Tolisso Bio

The French midfielder was born on 3 August 1994 in Tarare, France. He was also raised there by his father, Vincent Tolisso, who worked as a postman, and his mother, who was a director of a disabled person from 2017. He grew up at the side of a sister.

Like many other players who are successful in this sport, Tolisso, who is of both French and Togolese descent, began playing football as a child.

He started playing professional football at the age of 6 when he moved to Stade Amplepuisia in 2000. He stayed there until 2004 before moving to continue his youth career at FC Pays de l’Arbresle. Three years later, the boy who would one day win the World Cup with France moved to Lyon.

Corentin Tolisso Football Career

From 2007 he continued his youth career until 2013 when he was promoted to the B team of Lyon. After 30 games and one goal, he played for Lyon in Ligue 1. He played 116 times in the league and scored 21 goals before signing a contract that brought him to Germany to Bayern Munich. Before he decided to move to Munich, there were other clubs interested in the star midfielder, including Chelsea FC of England.

After signing a 41.5 million euro contract with the Bundesliga team, he became the most expensive player signed by the German team. Before him, Mario Götze and Vidal, who both signed a contract worth 37 million euros, and Mats Hummels (38 million euros) were the most expensive players the club could sign. For the Blues of France, Corentin Tolisso received his first call to play for the French U19 team in 2012. In 2013 he would play for the U-20 team and then from 2014 to 2016 for the French U-21 team. With 19 games and 6 goals, he received a great invitation to play for the country’s senior national team in 2017.

In 2018 he made it onto the French 23-man list for the FIFA World Cup in Russia. Prior to the final round of the tournament, which he reached with other members of the national team after beating Belgium, Tolisso had already played 13 matches in his national colors and had taken part in the World Cup four times.

Although Tolisso’s career is still very young, he has already won a Bundesliga title with Bavaria and the DFL Supercup in 2018. He also made it into the UEFA Europa League in the 2016/2017 season. On the international stage, he and his French team beat Croatia 4-2 on 15 July 2018 to win the coveted FIFA World Cup.

Parents and sister

As already mentioned, the midfielder for the French national team was brought up by his parents at his sister’s side. Since he is a very private player, very little is known about his family life, apart from his parent’s profession, as described above.

However, his father, Vincent Tolisso, was an amateur player at a young age. Before every game, his mother sends him a message, while his father sends the message after the game. This is obviously an indication that he has a closely connected family.

There is no doubt that Corentin Tolisso is a hard-working player with a lot of stamina and strength, even if the man you would almost always call the hard worker of the French team is Ngolo Kante. Nevertheless, nothing can take away from Tolisso, who has been able to complement his good height and physique with his skills, to become the outstanding player he is.

He has a height of 5 feet 11 inches (1.81m) and a bodyweight of 172 lbs (78 kg). While his general body measurements are not known, it is obvious that he has a good and athletic build.
