If you are a wrestling enthusiast, the name Roman Reigns would certainly sound familiar to you as he is one of the famous wrestlers on the WWE Raw Brand. Roman, who was born on May 25, 1985, in Pensacola, Florida when Joseph Anoa’i was born, is the son of retired wrestler Leati Sika Anoa’i. His mother, Patricia A. Anoa’i, is said to be a housewife.

Roman’s older brother, Matthew Tapunu’u Anoa’i, was also a wrestler with the stage name Rosey. He died tragically on 17 April 2017 as a result of heart failure. It is known that Roman has other extended family members who are famous wrestlers, including his cousins Yokozuna, Rikishi, Umaga, and The Tonga Kid. It is also said that he is the first cousin of The Usos, The Rock, and Nia Jaxx.

Aside from wrestling, it is known that Roman played college football before playing in the NFL for teams such as the Minnesota Vikings and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was also in the Canadian League, where he played for the Edmonton Eskimos before retiring in 2008 to concentrate on wrestling.

Roman Reigns WWE Career

The talented wrestler began his career at the WWE when he was signed up for the 2010 WWE Championship in wrestling in Florida, commonly known as FCW. His debut match was against Richie Steamboat on September 9, 2010, under the ring name Roman Leakee, but he lost the match. He also lost to Stevens and Wes Brisco, but on September 21 he landed his first win in the game against Fahd Rakman. He began playing in teams, and in 2012 Roman and his partner Mike Dalton won the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship. That year, Roman also changed his ring name to Roman Reigns when WWE renamed FCW to NXT.

From 2012 to 2014, the lively wrestler was known as part of a trio team called The Shield, which included Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. The Shield were known for their numerous escapades in the ring, including losing to Team Hell No to win the WWE Tag Team Championship, fighting the Wyatt Family, and qualifying for the WWE World Heavy Weight, for which they were later disqualified.

When the trio disbanded in June 2014, Roman Reigns began to perform as a lone fighter, and the following year his performance improved and he landed a place in the Royal Rumble competition, from which he emerged as Royal Rumble Champion in 2015. He was then to fight Brock Lesnar in WrestleMania 31. Reigns lost the fight due to Seth Rollins’s interference, which made Brock the winner.

In October 2016, Roman won the WWE championship tournament, but his victory was short-lived when Sheamus received permission to attack him by cashing his money in the bank, knocking Roman down within five minutes, and becoming the new champion. Later that month, the talented wrestler received a rematch against Sheamus and he reclaimed his title.

That year he was also drafted into the WWE brand, and in 2017 he won the great wrestler The Undertaker in WrestleMania 33, and at some point that year his Shield brothers reunited with him to fight The Miztourage. Although they won their first fight, the group finally lost to The Miztourage in January 2018, and Roman is currently aiming to win the World Cup, with his main opponent Brock Lesnar.

Roman Reigns Injuries

To be a professional wrestler, injuries cannot be ruled out, and Roman Reigns, like most of his peers, has been confronted with a couple throughout his career.

In February 2017, Roman is said to have injured himself at the hand of another wrestler, Samoa Joe, in a Monday Night Raw Match. Also a few months later, he was attacked by Strowman, who reportedly ran over the ambulance Roman was accommodated in by medical staff. After his recovery and in a desire for revenge, he faced further attacks from Strowman, who beat him with a steel chair during their fight.

Why Was He Suspended?

The famous wrestler in a tantrum publicly criticized WWE Chairman Vince McMahan for not punishing Brock Lesner, who had failed to appear for a march against him in Detriot.

McMahon did not contradict the fact that Brock Lesner was given preferential treatment, but stressed that Roman should stick to his duty and keep quiet. However, his suspension would not affect his game against Lesner in the WWE Universal Championship WrestleMania 34 in April 2018.

Prior to his current suspension, the wrestling superstar had a 30-day suspension in 2016 for violation of the WWE wellness program.
