William Bumpus – Bio
He was born in 1954 in Greenwich, South East London, England, where he also grew up. He is of British nationality, while his ethnicity is mixed. From there he went to Yale University and earned his law degree.

When his service there came to an end, he began practicing law and has developed remarkably well in his career. While William did well in his law practice, he was not so famous in many ways. But when he married the television personality Gayle King in 1982, he received as much attention as his wife, if not more. The two reportedly met in 1981 when Bumpus moved from Kansas City to Connecticut. There was an instant attraction between the two that led to a relationship. They decided to marry the following year after their meeting.
The marriage between the two was blessed with two children. A daughter named Kirby Bumpus and her younger brother named William Bumpus Jr. Oprah Winfrey is the godmother of the Bumpus children.
For 11 long years, William Bumpus and Gayle King remained husband and wife. But when Gayle allegedly caught her husband stark naked with another woman sometime in June 1990, the foundation of their marriage began to shake. Worse, Bumpus admitted that he had actually cheated on his wife. After the divorce was finalized in 1993, the former couple began calling each other ex.
