While playing for the Pine Plains basketball team, Lydon led the Bombers to the state’s Class C finals in 2013 with an average of 15.4 points and 11.3 rebounds per game this season.

In his first year at Syracuse University in 2016, the striker led his team to the NCAA final of the last four places, and as a sophomore student, he averaged 13.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. In his two-year career at Syracuse University, Lydon scored 47.5 percent of his shots – and 39.8 percent from the 3-point range, averaging 11.6 points and 7.4 rebounds.

His 40 percent shot from the 3-point range at Syracuse projected him as a four-point stretch in the NBA. An ESPN draft expert said that his ability to shoot at his size was fascinating and that Lydon, with a 7-foot wingspan at 6’9″, had potential as a shot-blocker and could protect the edge. According to Tim Connelly, President of Nuggets Basketball Operations, Lydon’s versatility was a key selling point.

Lydon’s childhood dream came true when he was selected by Utah Jazz in the first round of the NBA draft and later switched to the Denver Nugget.

The Pine Plains Basketball Collection was voted 24th in the 2017 NBA Draft and was the second domestic product from Dutchess County to be drafted by the NBA, after Poughkeepsie-born Rich Rinaldi in 1971.

Tyler Lydon made his professional debut in the summer league game against the Houston Rockets, which was broadcast nationwide on NBATV. The 6-foot-9 striker signed his first professional contract with Utah Jazz. Although his terms were not disclosed, it is said that he is guaranteed a place on the team for two seasons with an option for a third and fourth season.

The maximum value of his contract is estimated at $7.66 million for four seasons according to the NBA rookie salary scale. He began wearing the No. 20 jerseys for the Nuggets and is believed to have the rare combination of shot strength, size, and rim protection that is a great legacy in the game.

Tyler Lydon Height, Weight, and Other Body Measurements

Tyler Lydon stands at a height of 6 feet 9 inches and weighs 98 kg (215 lbs). The width of his hand measures 8.75 inches while his length is 8.75 inches. He has a standing width of 8 feet 11.5 inches with a wingspan of 7 feet. The basketball player should have a body fat of 13.60 percent.

Despite his superb marksmanship in jump shooting, he is not nearly as effective at dribbling; he does not handle the ball with excessive agility, but he runs well over the ground and is quickly back on his feet when he can build up a steam head as he approaches the basket.
