Hunter Pence is an American baseball player who currently plays right field for the San Francisco Giants. Before he started playing for the Giants, he was with the Houston Astros and then the Philadelphia Phillies.
Pence’s baseball career dates back to Arlington High School, where he played on the school team. After high school, he played at Texarkana College before transferring to the University of Texas. Hunter Pence Biography
Pence was born on April 13, 1983, in Arlington, Texas, as Hunter Andrew Pence. He started playing baseball right during his high school days at Arlington High School, Texas. In his youth he played as an outfield player, in his last years he was a shortstop.
After high school, he played at Texarkana College for a year before he transferred to the University of Texas at Arlington, where he was an outfielder again. In 2002, he was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 40th round of the Major League Baseball Draft, but he declined.
In 2003, he scored 347 goals and was named All-Conference outfielder for the first team. The following year, he was named Southland Conference Player of the Year after scoring a batting average of 395 goals.
Career
Hunter Spence’s professional career actually began in 2004 after he was drafted by the Houston Astros in the second round of the Major League Baseball Draft.
That season he played with the New York Tri-City ValleyCats, and with other players like Ben Zobrist on the team, the “Cats were able to achieve a 50-victory season in the New York Penn League. In 2006, he was transferred to Corpus Christi Hooks, where he scored 283 goals with 28 home runs and 95 RBIs and was inducted into the Baseball America Minor League All-Star Team.
He started the 2007 season with Round Rock Express as a midfielder. He made his first major debut as the Houston Astros center fielder in April 2008 in a game against the Milwaukee Brewers. During this match, he also scored his first big league hit and scored his first run.
Before the end of this season, Hunter Pence was replaced in midfield by Michael Bourn while he was in the right field, and this became the beginning of new heights for him. He set new records: his home run record was 25 home runs, 83 beaten runs, 160 hits, 25 doubles, and 595 at-bats. However, his on-base percentage dropped to 0.318, his batting average to 0.269, and his slugging percentage to 0.466.

In 2009, Pence to the Philadelphia Phillies was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies for four lower league players, including two right-handers (Jarred Cosart and Josh Zeid), first baseman Jonathan Singleton and outfielder Domingo Santana. He remained with the Philadelphia Phillies until mid-2012. In July 2012, the Phillies signed a contract with the San Francisco Giants to exchange pence for three other players, including Seth Rosin, Nate Schierholtz, and Tommy Joseph.
Pence has suffered multiple injuries. In 2015, he suffered a forearm fracture on his left forearm after being hit by a pitch during training against the Chicago Cubs, and a left oblique distortion that caused him to miss the rest of the season.
In 2016 he suffered a torn tendon in the hamstring of his right leg while running to first base, and in 2017 he also had a worrying left hamstring. Despite the many injuries he has suffered during his years with the San Francisco Giants, Hunter Pence has not stopped making headlines in the world of baseball.
