Ethan was born on June 24, 1985, in Ventura, California as Ethan Edward Klein and is one half of the h3h3Productions duo. He is the husband of Hila, who runs the station with him. Ethan has a Jewish heritage as he was born the son of Jewish parents – Gary and Donna Klein – who emigrated to the USA before he was born. He completed his high school education at Buena High School before moving to the University of California at Santa Cruz in 2004. In 2009 he graduated with a diploma in English Literature and Creative Writing.

Hila Klein, on the other hand, was born Hila Hakmon on December 12, 1987. She also has Jewish descent and was born in Holon, Israel. And while her father is a Libyan Jew, her mother is a Turkish Jew. Hila was born into a Sephardic Jewish family and enrolled in the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in her home country, but never completed her studies. She met her husband, Ethan Klein when she served two years in the IDF – Israeli Defense Forces. He had come to the Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem, and it was there that their paths crossed.

The h3h3 YouTube channel debuted in 2011 and its content is mainly reaction videos. There are videos on the channel that criticize other Internet entities and even some guidelines adopted by the social media platform itself – YouTube. When the channel debuted in 2011, its first postings were videos of Hila.
H3h3Productions has become so popular on the Internet that it currently has over 5.7 million subscribers (as of 2018) and more than 1 billion viewers. The station’s best-viewed video to date is the video “Vape Nation”, which was uploaded in March 2016. By May 2018, the video has recorded over 22 million views, and the trend is rising.
