Evan Springsteen’s Early Life; Evan’s Birth Was Crucial In Turning Bruce Into A Family Man

Evan Springsteen (full name Evan James Springsteen) was born on 25 July 1990 in Los Angeles, California. Thanks to his father, Evan is of Dutch, Irish, and Italian descent. His grandfather, Douglas Frederick “Dutch” Springsteen (1924-1998), worked as a bus driver and in other jobs. Throughout his life, Douglas suffered from mental health problems, which worsened in later years.

Evan’s paternal grandmother, Adele Ann (née Zerilli) (born 1925), came from the Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn, worked as a legal secretary, and was the main breadwinner for the family.

After the birth of Evan, his father, Bruce had a moment when it became clear to him that family was important. So he and his wife decided that a three-week tour would be good, but a longer tour would be a bad idea.

On the “Fatherhood” episode of the Barack Obama podcast, Evan’s father said that after Evan was born, he experienced fearless love for the first time in his life. IMDb reports that Evan attended Ranney School and Rumson Country Day School. He was a lacrosse player during his time at Ranney School in New Jersey.

He attended Boston College, a private Jesuit research university, and later earned a degree in music in 2012. During his studies, he won the 2012 Boston College Singer-Songwriter Competition as part of the Boston College Arts Festival.

Evan has also worked for Sirius XM radio as a program director and festival producer.

Evan Springsteen’s Parents; His Father Was Previously Married

Evan’s father Bruce married Patti Scialfa on 8 June 1991. However, before their marriage, they became parents to their first child, Evan. Evan’s parents have been together for the last three decades.

The future long-term partner grew up in the same social circle and lived only 10 miles apart. They first met in 1980 at the famous New Jersey bar “The Stone Pony”.

Evan’s mother Patty soon became the only woman in Bruce’s E Street Band after she auditioned to become a backing vocalist. From then on, fans noticed the pair’s chemistry whenever they collaborated to perform their many duets.

However, in 1985 Bruce married Julian Phillips, a union that lasted only three years, as she soon filed for divorce in 1988. They officially separated in 1989. Patti moved in with Bruce shortly afterward and they married two years later.

Evan is the eldest child of Bruce Springsteen and his second wife Patti Scialfa.

A year after his birth, his parents welcomed his sister Jessica Rae Springsteen on 30 December 1991. Jessica is a well-known American horsewoman. She is also popular as a champion dressage rider who has won several medals. Jessica is currently ranked 14th in the world in the FEI Dressage Ranking.

Evan’s sister Jessica represented Team USA at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and competed in team jumping and individual competitions. She won a silver medal in the team show jumping. She was also an alternate in London (2012).

In addition, she is quite expressive, occasionally posting photos on social media showing her equestrian exploits. In 2014, she obtained a degree in psychology from Duke.

Also, Evan’s younger brother Sam Ryan Springsteen (born 5 January 1994) is officially a firefighter in New Jersey. He, along with fifteen others, received this prestigious title at a City Council ceremony in January 2020. Sam previously served as a volunteer with the Monmouth County Fire Department.

Evan, Jessica, and Samuel, all three featured as backing vocalists on Bruce’s 2002 song “Down in the Hole”.

Despite Evan’s love of music, Bruce revealed in an interview with The New York Times that none of his children know the words to his songs. He said that he and Patti had their children late in life, he was 40 when his first son was born, and over the years they showed a healthy disinterest in his work.

The 20-time Grammy Award winner said that his children have their own musical heroes, they have their own music that interests them. Bruce added that they would be completely blank if anyone mentioned the name of one of his songs.

Evan Springsteen Almost Drowned

In July 2006, Evan, then 15, had to be pulled out of an Adirondack lake by forest rangers after his kayak capsized.

The incident happened on July 2 while the family was in Lake Placid.

Officials with the state Department of Environmental Conservation reported that forest rangers on routine patrol noticed the overturned kayak some distance from shore. When they arrived, they saw Evan in the water.

The rangers put Bruce’s son in their boat and took him to the rented lakeside camp where the family was staying.

What Is Evan Springsteen Doing Now?

Evan is known to the general public as a music and audio producer. However, he has not recently released any of his own work. Some speculate that he has retired from music, but no confirmation of this has emerged.
