Who is Durv?

The YouTube star was born in Crawley, England, on March 14, 2003. In July 2016 he launched his first YouTube channel and introduced himself as ItzDurv in a video he called “Shoutout Sunday #01 – Grow Your Channel! Win active subscribers!”. Durv quickly gained popularity through his tricks of giving away free gift cards. He deceived his fans by giving away a free gift card at the beginning of each of his videos and encouraged his followers to subscribe, ring the bell and leave a comment to participate in the gift and possibly receive a voucher. In most of his much-viewed videos, he talks about a killer clown. In fact, in one of his videos, he made a prank call to a McDonald’s with the voice of John Cena. Unknown to his subscribers, Durv only increased the number of his subscribers and sympathies as well as the number of his viewers.

As his YouTube channels grew, Durv was severely criticized for using this click lure to indirectly enrich himself through viewer subscriptions. By October 2016, he already had over a hundred thousand subscribers. From that month until April 2017, when he reached one million subscribers, that number grew even further. To prove just how fast the channel was growing, Durv already had about 1.4 million subscribers by the end of May 2017, barely a year after its launch.

Why Was He Terminated

On May 31, 2017, Durv’s channel was terminated for “violating YouTube’s community guidelines. The termination came several months after he uploaded a video claiming that his school was threatening to shut down his channel. Although he gained a lot of popularity through his video uploads, Durv knew he had many haters, especially from those who knew all about his pranks. His videos also had a high number of dislikes, as it was said that his channel contained bots that allowed him to have almost the same valued likes and dislikes.

What made Durv’s video “MY SCHOOL CLEARS MY CHANNEL” controversial was that it got one of the highest subscriptions and one of the highest viewing figures. According to YouTube reports, Durv reached over 6 million viewers, as many of them became known with the infamous line “Wanna Join My Free Giftcard Giveaway. He also claimed that one of the reasons his channel was shut down was because he had uploaded videos that “advertised violence” three times in a row, which he said included throwing a snowball into a car. Funnily enough, Durv knew his video content was bad, too. He even joked about it on his Twitter account, which also has massive followers.

On June 26, 2017, a nameless person exposed Durv as a liar and cheat and pointed out that the XBOX Live gift card design that Durv used to seduce his viewers was not similar to the XBOX Live gift card design of 2017. It was also revealed that other card designs, such as the iTunes gift card, were older than they appeared and that Club Penguin was no longer a game. Another clue on his claimed gift card was that he mistakenly referred to it as a “$500 (383 pounds) gift card” and forgot to use British currency.

Ten months after his station was shut down, he was reinstated, and to formally announce his return, Durv released a new video entitled “I’m Back” in April 2018. In the video, he claimed that he was finished making gift card videos and “will make videos that everyone wants to watch”. However, he lost about 97,000 subscribers, but despite his loss, the young YouTuber is gaining more subscribers and viewers. His channel is said to have over 3,000 hits and about 2,500 dislikes compared to 203 like-minded people.
