Dejan Lovren Brief Bio

Dejan was born on 5 July 1989 in the town of Zenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina (formerly SFR Yugoslavia) as the son of Croatian parents, Silva and Sasa Lovren. His parents left Yugoslavia in 1992 because of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the direction of Munich. Lovren was only three years old at that time. The family lived for the next seven years in the German city of Munich before returning to Croatia, where they settled in the Croatian city of Karlovac.

Back in Croatia, Lovren, who was about ten years old at that time, found it difficult at first to get used to living in his home country and to get along academically, as he found it somewhat difficult to understand the Croatian language, but he soon got used to it. Lovren remembers his years in Germany and says he was a happy boy, learned perfect German, went to school, and played in a small club.
