Dalvin Cook joined the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League after the 2017 NFL draft. Before going pro, the talented running back had a highly successful college football career at Florida State University, where he rose to become the leading rush player on the Florida State Seminoles football team and was unanimously named All-American in 2016.

Who is Dalvin Cook?

Dalvin James Cook was born on August 10, 1995, in West Little River, Florida. He received his high school education at Miami Central Senior High School. As a high school athlete with two sports, Cook participated in athletics and soccer tournaments, but only joined the soccer team in the second year. The talented young man was part of the Miami Central relay teams that won the 4 × 100 m and 4 × 400 m competitions at the FHSAA 3A Region 4 in 2013.

In football, Dalvin Cook had a high point in his high school career – in his senior year (2013) when he scored 1,940 rushing yards, 34 touchdowns on 177 carriers, and 3 interceptions. He led the Miami Central team to the final of the school’s Class 6A State Championship for the fourth year in a row, where they won their third state championship in four years. His outstanding performances earned him the Florida Dairy Farmers Association’s Mr Florida Football Award 2013. Cook finished his high school career with 4,267 “Rush Yards” and 64 touchdowns, for which he received the titles “All-USA Football Team”, “Second Team All-American” and “All-State Class 6A first-team”. He also appeared in 2014 Under Armour All-America Game.

At the end of his high school career, Dalvin Cook was ranked as a five-star running back recruit and was therefore highly sought after by college recruiters. Prior to graduating high school, Cook was involved with Clemson University but transferred to the University of Florida in April 2013. The talented running back changed loyalties again in January 2014 when he finally settled at Florida State University.

David Cook finished his freshman season with 1,008 Rush Yards, 8 Rush Touchdowns, 22 Receptions, and 203 Receiving Yards. In December 2014, he was named MVP of the 2014 ACC Championship game, in which he had 177 rushing yards on 31 carries and a rushing touchdown. Cook remained in top form into his second season (2015), in which he finished with 1,691 rushing yards, 19 rushing touchdowns, 24 receptions, 244 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown.

In his junior season, David Cook had 1,765 swishing yards, 19 swishing touchdowns, 33 receptions, 488 receiving yards, and a receiving touchdown. In December 2016, Cook announced his decision to forgo his final year of college qualification and enter the 2017 NFL Draft. In the team’s 33-32 win over the Michigan Wolverines in the 2016 Orange Bowl, he ended his career in the state of Florida with an epic 145-yard rush and three receptions for 62 yards. Cook was named MVP of the game and ended his three-year college career with 4,464 yards of glory. David Cook was named 41st in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings.

In his NFL debut against the New Orleans Saints, Dalvin Cook set a new record for the Vikings’ rookie debut when he ran 127 yards on 22 carries. However, his 2017 season was abandoned after just four weeks due to a knee injury, bringing an abrupt end to what may have been a historic rookie season. Cook ended the season with 354 stormy yards after only 4 games.

Dalvin Cook was born the son of Varondria Burnett and James Cook. He grew up with 5 siblings, the brothers Deandre and James Jr. and the sisters Jamiya, Daneisha, and Jameisha. With only one year of the age difference between them, Dalvin Cook and his older brother Deandre are like two peas in a pod. Just like his famous younger brother, Deandre Burnett is a star athlete. He played basketball at Carol City Middle School and Miami Central Senior High School. In 2012 he was one of only 2 players from Florida to receive the All-American Honours Parade. He played college basketball at the University of Miami, and after his redheaded freshman year, Deandre Burnett joined the Ole Miss Rebels basketball team at the University of Mississippi. He currently plays in the shooting guard position.

Who is His Girlfriend?

Just before Dalvin Cook joined the NFL, he was known for having a relationship with his long-time girlfriend and high school sweetheart, Jacquilla Morris. The two are said to have met as children at Carol City Westview Middle School in Miami Gardens, Florida. Their friendship lasted even longer when they studied together at Miami Central Senior High School. In April 2017 Dalvin Cook announced that he was expecting his first child with Morris.
