Who Is Cody Whitehair?
Cody Michael Whitehair was born on July 11, 1992, in Abilene, Kansas, as Cody Michael Whitehair and attended Abilene High School. During his senior season, Cody had 140 pancake blocks and took a total of 81 tackles (41 solos, 40 assisted) with 15 bags and was appointed to the All-Midlands Regional Team of PrepStar magazine. He was also honored by the KFBCA (Kansas Football Coaches Association) and Varsity Kansas with the All-Kansas 4A award and was instrumental in helping the Cowboys set 31-11 records in four seasons.
The Center Lineman grew up on a farm in Abilene, where he worked long hours as a young boy. As a result, his smart, tough, and dedicated approach to working for his game is well defined.
He played his college career at the Kansas State University Wildcats, where he played 51 of 52 games over four seasons, including 26 starts with the left tackle, 22 with the left guard, and three with the right tackle, a true sign of his versatility. He is a courageous attacking linesman with a sharp IQ in football that is too obvious to be overlooked. Four years later, Cody Whitehair was drafted by the Chicago Bears.
When he joined the Bears, the position he would play was not immediately clear. He started out as a left defender in the preseason, but with pro bowl guard John Sitton joining them as a left defender at the beginning of the season, Cody was eventually moved to the starting middle position, although he had never played that position before. Nonetheless, he proved his form as an outstanding player, starting in all 16 games of his rookie season and receiving tons of praise and recognition, including being appointed to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
On his professional debut in September 2016, he snatched the football from Jay Cutler, who acted as a quarterback and blocked veteran Vince Wilfork. In addition, his elite performance paved the way for Jordan Howard, also a rookie at 1,313 stormy yards, who finished second in the NFL and helped the Bears become the third most frequent passing yard in the franchise’s history.
