Born in mid-April 1973, Blue Lagoon actress Elva Josephson is a native of New Jersey. The actress, now 49, is the daughter of her father, Herbert Josephson, and her mother, Mary Winifred Covey. Her late father Herbert was a musician by profession. Elva grew up mainly in Beethoven, New Jersey.
She also has a sister, Jami Josephson Chace, who is a businesswoman and works for the Shaklee Corporation, which manufactures and distributes natural dietary supplements, beauty products, and household goods. Josephson was home-schooled at an early age. She later attended Red Bank Regional High School.
As for college, the former child actress attended SUNY College at Old Westbury (a state college in Old Westbury, New York) majoring in mathematics and education.

Before films, Elva had been modeling since childhood. Josephson was one of several children from Beach Haven, NJ, who participated in quite a few photo shoots. The New Jersey-born actress started her acting career in the early 1980s, also as a child.
Josephson made her first screen debut in the 1980 television film Hardhat And Legs. In this 1980 film, the then seven-year-old played the character of Dee Dee Botsford. It was also the year that Josephson played a young Emmeline in her only major film, The Blue Lagoon.
Although directed by Randal Kleiser, the film was not the end of Elva’s acting career. She would make a few more screen appearances before unofficially pulling the curtain back on her acting career.
After Blue Lagoon, Elva played Sue Bradley in the 1982 romantic comedy A Little Sex. That same year she also played Bonnie/Elva Leff in the comedy-drama Author! Author! with veterans such as Al Pacino and Dyan Cannon.
Two years later, the Beach Haven girl played Patsy Custis in the TV miniseries George Washington. The following year, Josephson made a one-time appearance as Nancy Banks in the CBS television short The Day the Senior Class Got Married, an episode of The Lion School.

He is also an animal lover. Although it is not clear when exactly Josephson and the host got married, some social media posts suggest that the couple tied the knot on 29 August in the late 1990s. Since then, Josephson and her businessman husband have been together.
They are also parents to a son, Ethan Grossman, and a daughter, Jordan Grossman. Josephson’s son Ethan is apparently studying at Belmont University. As early as 2020, Elva announced on Facebook that her son had been admitted to Belmont University.
