Snoop Dogg Early Life and Education
Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. known as Snoop Dogg was born in Long Beach California on October 20, 1971, to Vernell Varnado and Beverly Tate. His dad Vernell left the family shortly after Calvin was born. Calvin got his stepfather’s name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Sr. His real dad wasn’t around much. As a kid, his mom called him “Snoopy” because he loved the Snoopy character from Peanuts. He was the second of three boys. His mom and stepdad split up in 1975. Calvin started singing and playing piano at church when he was little and by sixth grade he was rapping. He also worked odd jobs like selling candy and delivering newspapers to help his family.
