Sergio Garcia Biography
The man was born on 9 January 1980 in Castellon, Spain, as Sergio García Fernández. He grew up in the Spanish town of Borriol in a family with three children as his second child. Interestingly, since the age of two, he began a romance with golf, inspired by his father, who was a lover of the sport.
Victor Garcia, his father, also raised Sergio’s 2 other siblings, an older brother, Victor Garcia (Jr.), and his sister Mary, to love the game. While his brother worked at a golf club and attended college on a golf scholarship, the other two continued to play the game, but Sergio had the greater talent.
Apart from his love of golf, Victor Garcia, who lived near Valencia, made sure his family was raised as correctly and traditionally as possible. He emphasized values like modesty and hard work. This should also be reflected in the lives of his children.
Sergio Garcia, for his part, has spent most of his life playing the game he loves so much. At a very young age he took on members of his father’s golf club and his reward was either cola or ice cream. When he was 12 years old, El Nino, as he was called, became popular as a long hitter.
In 1994, the youngster won the Topolino Junior World Championship, and in 1995 he took home the Orange Bowl International Junior Golf Championship in Miami. This was his first appearance in the USA. Another victory was soon to follow, but this time it was the European Tour at the Turespana Open. He was the youngest player to make a cut there. He then became the youngest champion of European amateur players and won the European Young Masters Championship again.
Before 2000 Sergio Garcia had participated in many other tournaments, put on a good show, and paved the way for a professional golf career. This is exactly how he once hoped as a child to grow up and play football for Real Madrid. His love of football is still strong as he is the president of the Spanish football team CF Borriol.
As a professional golfer, Sergio Garcia has played in 14 championships on the European Tour, 10 on the PGA Tour, 6 on the Asian Tour, and a Japan Golf Tour, among others. On his way to becoming the youngest player ever to take part in the Ryder Cup, he first became well known when he played Tiger Woods in the 1999 PGA Championship. Although he did not win, he put on a very good show after losing by just one stroke.
Throughout his career, the man has won many awards, including the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year in 1999. In 2008, Garcia received the Vardon Trophy and the Byron Nelson Award, and in 2017 he was named European Tour golfer of the year.
Sergio Family – Wife, Fiance, or Girlfriend, Is He Married?
The golf star has so far enjoyed his own fair share of relationships. The first woman he has been associated with is Martina Hingis. Sergio and the former Swiss professional tennis player were together between 2001 and 2002 before they finally broke up.
He also dated the Australian actress Katharina Boehm before they broke up sometime in 2015. That was 2 years after their date, as their date is said to have started in 2013. Their relationship became a little serious as many expected them to marry after it turned out that the golfer had engaged the woman. But this was not to be.
A step back in time, Garcia’s girlfriend in 2006 was Morgan-Leigh Norman, the daughter of another great golfer, Greg Norman. Garcia and the beautiful woman, who will marry Chris Dillavou in 2012, did not survive together beyond 2009 when they parted ways. When he spoke about the relationship, he revealed that it was very painful to lose it.
The next person he has visited date is Angela Akins. She became his fiancée in January 2017 after he engaged her. Angela is a golf channel reporter who is also the daughter of former college All-American football player Marty Akins. Their engagement began in 2016 and they decided to become man and wife in July 2017 when they were married at a private event in Texas attended by their families and close friends.
