Biography: Early Life & Childhood

Rachel Leah Bloom was born on April 3, 1987, in Los Angeles as the daughter of Alan and Shelli Bloom. Although she was born in LA, Rachel grew up in Manhattan Beach, which is surprisingly in California and not in Manhattan, New York. She comes from a Jewish family. Her father, Alan, is a healthcare lawyer, while her mother, Shelli, is a musician – which explains her natural affinity for music.

The young actress attended Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, where she participated in the school’s acting program. After high school, she attended the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where she was the director and lead author of Hammerkatz, the school’s premier sketch group. Rachel completed her university studies in 2009 with a BFA in Theater Studies.

While living in Brooklyn after college, she once shared a room with Ilana Glazer, a comedian, and actress known for her work on Comedy Central’s Broad City. After NYU she performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles and in New York.

As an adolescent, Rachel Bloom struggled with mental illness and was diagnosed with anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and depression. As a result, she became involved with mental health and spoke openly about her problems. She criticized the poor portrayal of mental illness in the media as well as social stigmatization and discrimination.

Career & Net Worth

Rachel Bloom currently has total net assets of $2 million. Considering that her career is still in its infancy, this amount will certainly grow as she takes on more roles.

Currently, as mentioned above, she is the star of the CW hit show “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”. Although she also created the show, the actress revealed that she does not earn as much as most people assume. According to what she revealed, she earns about $50,000 to $60,000 per episode. On the one hand, this is more than many people earn in a whole year, but on the other hand, the amount is only a small change compared to what the cast of other hit comedy shows earns. For comparison, some Big Bang Theory stars earn up to $1 million per episode.

It is to be hoped that the actress will earn more for her talented work overtime – if not in this show, then in her next projects.
