In August 1988, Bruce Springsteen’s first wife Julianne Phillips filed for divorce. Afterward, Scialfa and Springsteen began living together first in New Jersey then in New York City, and later moved to Los Angeles to start a family. Springsteen’s divorce from Phillips was finalized in 1989.
