Patrice Bergeron is a professional hockey player who runs his business with the National Hockey League team Boston Bruins. On the international front, Bergeron represents the Canadian men’s national ice hockey team. Patrice Bergeron-Cleary was born on July 24, 1985, in the town of L’Ancienne-Lorette in central Quebec, Canada. His parents are Sylvie Bergeron and Gerard Cleary, and he grew up with a sibling, an older brother named Guillaume.

Unlike the passionate player he has become, Bergeron had a rather slow start in field hockey as a child. But with a lot of patience from his parents, he finally caught the mistake, and since then there is no turning back for the talented player. He trained at the Seminaire Saint-Francois, a mixed private school in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Quebec, and in his senior year, he was named captain of the AAA field hockey team Seminaire Blizzard Midget.

Professional Career

As an amateur, Patrice Bergeron played for several teams in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In the second round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, he was drawn in by the Boston Bruins as the 45th overall, marking the beginning of his long professional career.

As a rookie, Bergeron was selected for the 2004 NHL YoungStars game. In the end, he finished the season with 39 points in 71 games. In the 2005/2006 NHL season, the Bruins’ team was built around Bergeron, and as he met expectations, he ended the season with team tops and a career highlight of 31 goals and 73 points. In the 2006-07 season, the talented player continued his excellent form and finished the season with 22 goals and 48 assists.

Bergeron’s run in the 2007/08 season ended in October 2008 with a head injury, which he sustained at the end of the season. Almost a year later he returned to the field in time for the 2008/09 season. In 64 season appearances, he scored 39 points. In the 2009/10 season, his performance in 73 games increased to 52 points and in the 2010 playoffs to 11 points in 14 games.

For obvious reasons, the 2010/11 season is the most memorable season in Patrice Bergeron’s professional career. In the regular season, he scored 57 points in 80 games and also contributed to the Bruins’ victory in the 2011 NHL playoffs. In-game 7 of the series, in which the Bruins won their 6th Stanley Cup, he scored the championship title.

Stanley Cup. Bergeron showed a good performance in the 2011-12 season and finished the season with 64 points in 81 games. Despite the Boston Bruin’s early exit from the 2012 NHL playoffs, he was awarded the Frank J. Selke Trophy for the best defensive player in the league for the 2011-12 season. In the suspended, shortened NHL season 2012-13, he scored 32 points in 42 games. He also led the Bruins to the 2013 Stanley Cup final, although they eventually lost to the Chicago Blackhawks in 6 games.

In the 2013-14 season, Patrick Bergeron scored 30 goals and 62 points, which helped the Bruins win the Presidents’ Trophy 2014. His performance earned him the Frank J. Selke Trophy for the second time in his career and he also won the NHL Foundation Players’ Award. The talented player has remained consistent and has consistently brought the Bruins impressive numbers over the years. In the 2014-15 and 2016-17 seasons, he won the third and fourth Frank J. Selke Trophy.

Patrice Bergeron and his wife Stephanie (née Bertrand) have been married for some time. The duo was together for a long time before they entered into the bond of marriage on July 20, 2013.
