John Brogan Was Charged With 65 Sexual Offenses

A senior citizen had been acquitted of 20 charges just days before his death, but he was still due to face trial for an additional 45 charges later in the year.

He was accused of sexually assaulting a lady between 2004 and 2009 when he was between the ages of 64 and 69.
Four of the twenty charges he faced were dropped, and a jury declared him not guilty on the remaining sixteen.
After his body was discovered, a suspect was apprehended and is being questioned by police at Castlebar Garda station.
Brogan could have faced up to 14 years in jail if found guilty.
