Markiplier was born on June 28, 1989, in Honolulu, Hawaii, as Mark Edward Fischbach. His family later moved to Cincinnati, where he lived throughout his childhood and young adulthood. He spent most of his childhood playing in the woods with his brother Tom Fischbach before their father introduced them to the use of computers, which caught the attention of the boys who played video games like Super Nintendo for hours.
Mark was admitted to the University of Cincinnati to study biomedical engineering but dropped out to pursue an online career as a YouTuber. Mark’s father, Cliffton Morris Fischbach, was a military officer who served in South Korea, where he met his mother, who was from Korea. His father retired from the army shortly after his birth and moved with his family to Cincinnati. Mark has an older brother, Jason Thomas Fischbach, an artist and the author of the webcomic Two kinds.
Although she was loved by both parents, her marriage ended in divorce. Mark’s father met another woman, Dee, who both Mark and Tom liked because she bought them a PS2 and was nice to them. Dee is said to have given her father pleasure once again. However, her father was diagnosed with cancer and he died on 4 July 2008. Mark was emotionally broken by this loss.
