She was born as Marjorie Armstrong Post but was later to become known more as Markie Post. Markie was born on November 4, 1950, in Palo Alto, California. Probably one of the factors that influenced her into the art of film was the fact that her mother, Marylee Post, was a poet. Her father, however, Richard F. Post, was a nuclear physicist. Markie has two siblings – Rodney Post and Stephen Post.

She and her siblings grew up at Stanford and Walnut Creek. She attended high school at Las Lomas High School, and during her time there, like most students, she was involved in extracurricular activities and stood out because she was on the school’s cheerleading team.
After moving to Portland, Oregon, she attended Lewis & Clark College; she also spent a short time at Pomona College. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in art. Before acting, Markie served on numerous game shows as part of her production teams. It wasn’t a career move that would seem natural for an aspiring talent with dreams to make it big in Hollywood.
