Linda Vester is a U.S. journalist, news anchor, and television presenter who has worked for the big names in the television industry and has hosted several news programs, including Dayside with Linda Vester on Fox News Channel and NBC News at Sunrise on the NBC Network. Vester is also known for producing an award-winning video documentary about the genocide in Rwanda.

She is the founder and CEO of a website called smartmamas.com, whose goal is to educate young and aspiring mothers on how to manage their homes and careers while raising their children without causing suffering one in three. She herself had to give up her television career in 2005 to care for and educate her children.

Linda Vester Biography

Vester was born on June 11, 1965, in Ohio, Cincinnati, as Linda Joan Vester, the daughter of parents John and Dorothy Vester. Her father, who has now passed away, was a doctor. She has four siblings. Linda discovered her love of journalism during her senior year at Ursuline Academy High School in Ohio.

When high school was over, she knew that she wanted a career in journalism and had trouble choosing which college she wanted to attend, but with her father’s help and guidance, she started at the Sorbonne in France where she received her diploma in 1965. She then went to Boston University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 1987.

Thanks to a Fulbright Scholarship, Vester also obtained a degree in Arabic and Middle Eastern Affairs at the American University in Cairo, Egypt, and thanks to her studies in France and Egypt, she is fluent in both French and Arabic.

Linda Vester Career

She began her career in 1985 as an intern in the Paris office of CBS News and then in the Boston office between 1986 and 1987. Her first appearance on air was as a general news reporter for KHGI-TV, Kearney, Nebraska. After her studies in Cairo, Egypt, NBC took her to train as a foreign correspondent. During her time at NBC, she also began training as a researcher and field producer and was temporarily placed by NBC in a partner program to continue her training, with the understanding that she could be called upon for a larger assignment if needed.

The larger task came during the Gulf War when Iraq invaded Kuwait, and Vester was asked to report from WFLA-TV – an affiliate program of NBC based in Saudi Arabia. Her ability to speak Arabic and her background in Middle East affairs paid off. After the Gulf War, she remained with WFLA-TV until 1992, when she was transferred to the station’s Washington-based subsidiary, WRC-TV. During her time at the station, she covered news from the White House, the Pentagon, and the State Department, including the humanitarian disaster in Somalia.

In 1993, Linda Vester became a full-time correspondent for NBC, where she covered the Weekend Today program and performed other duties, including reporting on a coup d’état from Haiti and covering other foreign affairs. In 1999, her long-standing relationship with NBC News ended after she was hired by Fox News as a news anchor. She began as a presenter on Fox News’s afternoon news program and was also responsible for live coverage of the September 11, 2011 attack on the World Trade Center. Among other high-profile interviews, she moderated an interview with OJ Simpson.

Since 2002, she hosted a live show called “Dayside” with Linda Vester, which she hosted until 2005 when she quit to care for and raise her children. She is currently involved in some philanthropic activities and other things, such as running a website and blog aimed at educating young and aspiring mothers about how to manage their homes, careers, and children. Linda Vester is also known for producing an award-winning video documentary about the genocide in Rwanda.

Her Husband 

Vester has been married to Glenn H. Greenberg since 2001. Greenberg is a Wall Street investor who was born on January 22, 1947, in the baseball hall of the Famer Hank Greenberg and his wife Caral Gimbel, who happens to be the daughter of Bernard Gimbel – the owner of the renowned Gimbel’s department store family.

Greenberg is a graduate of the prestigious Yale University in English and holds a master’s degree in literature from New York University and an MBA from Columbia University.

Together the couple has four children. Vester is also the stepmother of Glenn’s three adult children from his previous marriage.

Affairs And Sexual Harassment Accusation

In 2018, Linda Vester accused her former colleague at NBC News and one of America’s most famous newscasters, Tom Brokaw, of having sexually harassed her on two separate occasions in the early 1990s; Brokaw denied Vester’s allegations, claiming that everything that had happened in the past between him and the former newscaster was “cordial and appropriate” and that he never crossed the professional line to make any romantic gestures towards Linda.
