Kyle Walker Bio

Kyle Andrew Walker was born on 28 May 1990 in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. He grew up in Sheffield, Sharrow County. Kyle started playing football at the age of 7 and soon after started training with Sheffield United. He joined the Sheffield Youth Academy on the recommendation of coach Paul Archer of Football Unites, Racism Divides.

A decade later, Walker was promoted to the senior national team as one of the reserve players. He was then sent on loan to the league singles team of Northampton Town. The main reason for the loan was that Kyle was able to gain experience in the first team. He improved quickly and returned to the team a month later, making his debut in an FA Cup match against Leyton Orient.

By July 2009, Kyle Walker’s performances had caught the attention of Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. He was signed to a combined £9 million contract with his team-mate and co-defender Kyle Naughton.

As part of the pact between the two teams, the Spurs were to lend Walkers to Sheffield for the 2009/2010 season. Walker consolidated his place in the Starting XI by gaining more experience. At the end of the 2009/2010 season, Kyle joined QPR on a loan basis. Before the end of the season, Kyle had a short stay at Aston Villa before returning to White Hart Lane.

Kyle’s performance at Aston Villa increased the club’s interest in him, but Spurs coach Harry Redknapp was not open to business. Consequently, Harry Redknapp secured Walker’s place by offering him a contract extension that would keep him on the Lane until 2016. Walker started as a regular for the Spurs at the start of the 2011/2012 season. His performance improved steadily and he won much love from the fans after he scored the winning goal against arch-rivals Arsenal in a derby in North London in October.

At the end of the season, Walker prevailed over nominees such as Sergio Agüero, Danny Welbeck, Daniel Sturridge, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Gareth Bale (his team-mate at the time) to be named Young Player of the Year by the PFA. As a reward for his hard work, the defender was promised a five-year contract extension that would keep him on the team until 2017. A year later, he was offered another contract, which extended his stay until 2019.

However, Walker changed the boat in July 2017 when rival Manchester City moved in. He joined the team on a controversial 5-year contract worth £50 million. With City, Walker won his first major trophy ever, the 2017/2018 EFL Cup, and also won the Premier League title of the season with manager Pep Guardiola.
