Katie Couric is a well-known and highly respected American author and journalist. She has been a host on the three major American television networks – ABC CBS and NBC. Katie worked for CBS News from 2006 to 2011 NBC News from 1989 to 2006 and for ABC News from 2011 to 2014. She was not the only presenter of Yahoo Global News Anchor but she was also editor-in-chief of assignments for CNN.

Katherine Anne Couric was born on January 7, 1957, in Arlington, Virginia. It is understandable that Katie obtained her writing skills from her mother, Elinor Tullie, who was a writer. Her passion for news also comes from her father, John Couric, editor, and director of public relations. As an editor, her father worked for United Press in Washington D.C. and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Katie Couric was raised as a Presbyterian even though her mother was Jewish. She was also able to trace her lineage from her father’s side to a French orphan who settled in the United States in the 19th century.

Katie Couric is as smart as she is beautiful. The media icon was educated in the Arlington public school system – she attended Jamestown Elementary School before moving to Williamsburg High School.

Katie Couric married Jay Monahan a lawyer in 1989. After two years of marriage, she gave birth to their first daughter Ellie in 1991. In 1996 a few years later she gave birth to their second daughter Carrie.
Unfortunately, Katie Couric’s husband died in 1998 of colon cancer when he was only 42 years old. This led her to become a spokesperson for colon cancer awareness; she even had a colonoscopy on-air in 2000.

In 2001 she lost her sister – Emily Couric Virginia State Senator – to pancreatic cancer; Emily was only 54 years old at the time of her death. This has also fuelled her cancer awareness campaign.
