Josh Doctson is an American football player affiliated with the Washington Redskins of the National Football League (NFL). The Wide Receiver was placed by the Redskins as the 22nd overall selection in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft. Josh Doctson was born on December 3, 1992, in Mansfield, Texas, in the United States. He grew up in Mansfield, where he attended Mansfield Legacy High School. During his high school years, Josh Doctson was a two-sport athlete; he participated in both basketball and soccer. In his youth, he played six games for the school soccer team and made 18 passes for 220 yards. In his senior year, he had 5 touchdowns, 35 passes for 558 yards, and 9 moves. At the end of his high school career, Josh was awarded three stars by Rivals.com. He was also honored for his wonderful performances by the first team of All-District 5-5A and as the most valuable player in the legacy.

Soon after graduating, Josh Doctson was scouted by top universities like Tulsa and Duke, but he became involved with the University of Wyoming. In 2011 he enrolled at the University of Wyoming where he continued his college career. In his first year of college, Doctson had five touchdowns and 35 receptions with 393 receiving courts. The following year, Josh transferred to Texas Christian University. Due to NCAA transfer rules, Doctson stopped playing football in 2012.

When he joined the Texas team, he scored four touchdowns, 36 receptions, and 440 yards in 2013. In his junior year, he had 11 touchdowns, 65 receptions, and 1,018 yards. In his senior year, Josh scored 14 touchdowns, 79 receptions, and 1,327 receptions for his team. In the same year, he was named Consensus All-American.

NFL Draft and Career

After an impressive college career, Josh Doctsun participated in the NFL’s combination exercises. He finished the 40-yard sprint in 4.5 seconds, the 20-yard sprint in 4.08 seconds, and the 60-yard shuttle in 11.06 seconds. In addition, he completed a vertical jump of 41.0 inches, a long jump of 131.0 inches, and finished the three-cone drill in 6.84 seconds. After the drills, Josh was projected as the first-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft.

During the 2016 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Washington Redskins as the 22nd in the first round of the draft. As a member of the Redskins, Josh served out the preseason due to an Achilles injury he sustained. His first appearance with the Redskins came in the 16-38 defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Josh aggravated the injury during the warm-up in the third week of play and was placed on the Redskins’ reserve list. The injury excluded him for the rest of his rookie year.

In the 2017 season, Josh returned to the active roster and scored his first touchdown in his career against the Oakland Raiders in week 3. He scored an 11-yard touchdown in their win over the San Francisco 49ers. During their Thanksgiving game against the New York Giants, Josh helped the Redskins win by scoring the final touchdown in the game. By the end of the season, Josh had played 16 games with 6 touchdowns, 35 receptions, and 502 receiving yards.

Although Doctson completed his second regular season in the NFL, he was not at the top of his game. His performances last season did not match his playing time. During the game in week 2 of the 2018 preseason, he caught his lonely target for 11 yards and helped the Redskins seal their victory against the Jets. Josh is working really hard to come back to give his best in the 2018 season and we hope that this will be his breakout season.
