Jason Segel was born on January 18, 1980, in Los Angeles, California, the son of Jewish father Alvin Segel, a lawyer, and his mother Jillian Segel, a mother who stayed at home. Jason is the second son of a family of three, with a younger sister Alison and an older brother Adam.
He attended the private St. Matthew’s Episcopal Parishish School and then moved to Harvard-Westlake School where he made a name for himself as a talented basketball player. With an impressive body frame and a height of 1.80 m, he was an integral part of the boys’ basketball team that became CIF State Champion in 1996/1997. His dunking skills earned him the nickname Dr. Dunk.
His foray into acting came with his role as Nick Andopolis in the short-lived NBC comedy-drama series Freaks and Geeks. The series proved successful and he was given recurring roles in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as Neil Jansen. He played Marshall Eriksen in the sitcom How I Met Your Mother.
Jason continued his string of impressive successes in the film “I Love You, Man”, in which he played the role of a groom who is about to get married but has no best friend as best man. In the comedy “Bad Teacher” he played beside Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz.
In 2011, Jason Segel received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards, and he also won the Critics Choice Award for Best Song for the Muppets.

It is fair to say that Jason has a chequered history with women behind him. His bosses at Universal Studios sent a trainer to the set and made sure that he trained twice a day. The trainer also had the job of supervising sail’s feeding habits.
In a typical joker style, Jason found creative ways to satisfy his raging appetite on the set. When he saw that he was to play the role of the cook in some scenes of the film, he persuaded his co-stars to delay their lines so that the scenes were repeated so that he could start eating again.
