Corrie Bird is the daughter of a former NBA champion, Larry Bird, and his ex-wife, Janet Condra. Corrie is the first child of Larry’s three children from his two marriages.

Corrie Bird Is The Biological Child Of Larry Bird

Corrie is not the only biological child of Larry and his ex-wife Janet; his adopted children are two-time MVP Connor Bird and Mary.

corrie Bird, 44, was born on 14 August 1977. She graduated from Northview High School in Brazil, Indiana, in 1995.

As a teenager, corrie was very tall for her age. In fact, she had reached five meters and ten centimeters before graduating from high school. corrie attended Indiana State University and was an excellent athlete. While there, she also majored in elementary education.

Corrie Bird Parents, Larry Bird, And Janet Were Friends From Childhood 

Her father Bird married her mother Janet Conrad right after she entered Indiana State University. corrie’s mother used to work as a postmistress and once had disc surgery.

She and Mr. Bird were childhood friends. However, the couple separated in 1976. During a brief (and unsuccessful) reconciliation, Conrad became pregnant and gave birth to the corrie.

However, Mr. Bird’s lawyers asked for a paternity test, and when the test results proved that corrie was indeed Larry’s child, she was already a minor. She rarely sees her father.

Larry, on the other hand, was dating Dina and for years refused to take part in his daughter’s life. The former striker later said that he still regrets his decision to be away from his daughter. It was Dina who for years encouraged him to make contact with corrie and try to build a relationship with her.

After her divorce from the former NBA star, Janet married Mike Deakins. After graduating from high school, corrie remained close to her mother, Janet, and stepfather, Deakins.

For Years Larry Didn’t Recognize Corrie Bird As His Daughter 

In February 1993, John Gearan of the Worcester Telegram highlighted an article quoting the then 15-year-old corrie.

In the article, Gearan reported on a letter from Corrie to her father asking him if she could attend his retirement ceremony. However, according to the article, Corrie said she never heard anything from him. She claimed that she had not had much contact with her father.

Her mother told Gearan that Bird used to visit corrie once a summer, but did not do so in ’92 because he was away at an Olympic tournament. In the late 1990s, corrie appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s show and talked about her non-existent relationship with her father.

During the show, Oprah asked her why she was unable to move on with her life, even though it had been 20 years since she had lived without her father. When asked by the host of the show, Corrie replied that although she has survived to some extent, she still hopes that he could be part of her life.

Janet said that she was sorry that her father had not wanted to meet corrie when she was little. In another interview, corrie said that she sent him letters and her mother sent him her school pictures and report cards.

She said that she and her mother Janet sent them with a confirmation to make sure he received them, but he just didn’t reply.

Corrie Bird’s Father Larry Accepted Her As His Daughter Years Later 

When corrie grew up, Larry addressed her as his daughter. In his autobiography, the Pacers coach, referring to a past estrangement situation with his daughter Corrie, admits that he couldn’t honestly say he had that much to do with her life because he was at odds with Janet [corrie’s mother].

He also explains in the book that he used to think about corrie all the time, but he knew there wasn’t much he could do either; he couldn’t go back and live the first five or six years of her life.

In his memoirs, however, the 29-centimeter-tall man calls corrie a fine and beautiful young woman and admires Janet for bringing her up in the best possible way.

He also talks about corrie’s sporting past and says that she did well in everything she did and that he is very proud of her.

Larry admits that he loved her and writes that he will be there for corrie at any time.

In the Reconciliation Between Corrie Bird And Her Father, Larry 

corrie once talked about what it had been like to be reunited with her father during her adult life. She described that her father had just accepted a coaching job with the Indiana Pacers, who had moved closer to where she lived.

Janet’s daughter went to watch the Pacers play one day and during the game, she went down to talk to Dina (Larry Bird’s second wife) and see their children Connor and Maria.

Afterward, corrie said that her father looked over at her while coaching the Pacers and saw her holding Mary, but he just smiled uncomfortably. However, she did not manage to talk to him at the time.

Later that season, Dina gave corrie two tickets to Pacers games, which she accepted, and when she went to the game, she finally got to talk to her dad briefly after the game.

“I was really happy to go to the game. Dad seemed interested in what I had to say. He walked me to my car, and he hugged me. I hope I can see more of him now,”

said the Indiana-born man.

Corrie Facebook Insinuates She Is/Was Married

Although her Instagram is blocked, her more-than-inactive Facebook says she is the mother of two children, a daughter, and a son.

However, the charming situation is that corrie has not revealed who the father of her children actually is. It is, however, politely clear that she has/had a husband in the past. Although whether she is currently married or not is a bit puzzling.

However, there is a picture of her on FB wearing a bridal gown; however, the missing one is her fiancé.

While her three-time NBA champion father is undoubtedly a millionaire with a net worth of more than $75 million, similar figures for Corrie’s net worth are a considerably more complex issue.

Unlike Larry, the mother of two is not talked about as much in the media, nor is it clear what she does for a living. In any case, it seems less likely that corrie is clearly rich; it seems rather unlikely that she is in the multi-millionaire league.
