Amber Tamblyn’s father Russ appeared as an actor in the musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) and the crime thriller West Side Story (1961), while her mother Bonnie was an artist and singer before changing careers to become a teacher. - 1988 – Theatre acting and discovery
The star of the General Hospital began performing on stage at the age of 5 while attending an unorthodox school known as Santa Monica Alternative School House (SMASH). There she performed in well over 13 plays. When she appeared in one of these plays at the age of 9 (in the fourth grade) – in the role of Pippi Longstocking – she was discovered by a casting agent, Sharon Debord, who was also a friend of the family.
- 1995 – She started her professional career
Amazed at Amber’s acting abilities, Sharon convinced her father Russ to let her come to auditions, as he was initially unwilling to let his daughter go because he feared she would handle the idea of being considered not good enough. But the opposite was the case when she appeared in Live Nude Girls and Rebellious in 1995. This was the beginning of her career as a professional actress.

The actress received her first award in her still-young career after she received the YoungStar Award for her role at the General Hospital. In 2000 she again won the award for the best performance of a young actress in a newsreel.

In 2012 she went to the altar with comedian David Cross. The couple met for the first time in 2007 and then they started dating and got married 5 years later after an engagement in 2011.
The couple is now blessed with a daughter – Marlow Alice Cross, who is their only child. She was born on 21 February 2017. Following the birth of her daughter, the actress and poet have announced the name of her new angel in her social media as “Dauphinoise Petunia Brittany Scheherazade Von Fünkinstein Mustard Witch RBG Cross Tamblyn-Bey jr. This caused a lot of excitement on the social media platform before Amber later revealed that it was just a joke. What a name that would have been!
Many years after the two of them married, they managed to stay close to each other, even though there was a 20 year age difference between them, with Cross being the older of the two.
