He was shot shortly before 4:45 pm near Gage Park in the 5200 block of South Spaulding Avenue he said at a press conference.
Two police cruisers responded to a domestic-related call about a man chasing a woman down the street with a gun according to Brown.
An officer died at Mount Sinai Medical Center after being shot multiple times. The 18-year-old was shot in the head according to Brown and is in critical condition.
He told reporters that the killed officer had been with the Chicago Police Department for five years and had a promising future. Brown stated that the tragic gunshot wound was still being delivered to the relatives.
Brown stated that they are devastated by the tragedy because they are a family of public employees. This should not be a problem for any family.
He stated that detectives were still piecing together the puzzle pieces as of Wednesday night and that the department was providing the evidence to COPA.

Authorities claim that an 18-year-old teen has a clean record. An officer was repeatedly struck and a suspect was hit in the head. They were both taken to the hospital.
According to early reports cited by Brown, the incident happened after a woman called 911 to report a man chasing her down the street with a gun.
Two police cars with officers arrived on the scene. According to Brown officers in the first car knocked on the door of a residence on that block while officers in the second car engaged with an 18-year-old man who began fleeing from authorities with a gun.
As the police chased them the officer and the suspect exchanged bullets “at close range” according to Brown.
He also stated that the officer was shot multiple times. He went on to say that the officer was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition and died as a result of his injuries.
The call involved a gun owner which the police were aware of. The 18-year-old turned as authorities identified him as the culprit and shot the officer “quickly without warning or notice.
“They were there to protect this victim” Brown added. They were willing to put their lives in danger to keep the victim safe.
