Dave Rubin – Biography

Rubin was born David Joshua Rubin on June 26, 1976, in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in a secular Jewish household. As an adolescent, he lived the next thirteen years of his life in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York.

He attended Syosset High School, where he graduated in 1994. After high school, he moved to Binghamton University, Vestal, New York, where he received his bachelor’s degree in political science in 1998.

After college he started his career as a stand-up comedian, playing comedy and visiting open microphones in and around the city. In 1999 he signed up as an intern on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, but this did not mean that he gave up his career as a stand-up comedian.

In 2000 he returned fully to his career in New York Comedy Cellar, and later that year he joined forces with other comedians in the club to create a public television series called The Anti-Show. Rubin co-founded other comedy clubs in New York, such as Joe Franklin’s Comedy Club and The Comedy Company in Times Square, where he continued his stand-up performance until 2007 when he immersed himself in other areas of media before returning to his first love in 2018 with an outstanding stand-up performance at a show at the Irvine Improv Comedy Club.

After years of doing stand-up comedy, Dave Rubin switched to podcasting and social media. He hosted some of the very popular podcasts such as the Ben and Dave Show, which was later turned into a comedy series on television, and also the Hot Gay Comics. Since 2009 he has hosted a podcast and radio show on Sirius XM Radio called The Six Pack. He also hosted a weekly web series on Logo TV called The Golden Girls Ultimate Fan Club.

In 2013 Dave Rubin began hosting his own show, The Rubin Report. The show is a political talk show in which Rubin addresses issues of political correctness, religion, media, foreign policy, freedom of speech, etc., and he is often seen as the ideological divide between progressivism and liberalism.

The Rubin Report was the first broadcast on The Young Turks Network in 2013, before moving to RYOT News and then to Ora TV. Later, in an interview with Sam Harris about the Ruby Report, Dave cited Cenk Uygur’s harsh criticism of Harris as one of the main reasons why he left The Young Turks.

Rubin also interviewed a number of other celebrities on his show including Jordan Peterson, Lindsey Shepherd, Ben Shapiro, Roseanne Barr, Steven Crowder, etc.
