Cissie’s mother, Loretta, married when she was a teenager. When she was 19 years old, on January 10, 1948, she went to the altar with Oliver Lynn.

Amazingly, the couple had known each other only a month before their marriage. Back in 2002, in her autobiography “Still Woman Enough”, she revealed that her then-husband had cheated on her regularly and once even left her when she gave birth.

During the interview, she also revealed that they regularly quarreled but that he never raised his hand against her. Despite having one of the most difficult love affairs, the couple spent around five decades together until Oliver’s death.
