In his senior year, Knight also led the school to the state championship finals after he was unsuccessful in his search for a third consecutive title. For his accomplishments in his senior year, he was nominated for the 2010 McDonald’s All-American Game, the Nike Hoop Summit, and the Jordan Brand Classic, and was also named Parade All-American first team. He has been named SEC Freshman of the Week three times and in February 2011 he was one of ten finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, an honor bestowed on the men’s best college scorer. He also helped the team win the 2011 SEC championship title, and for the first time in 13 years, the team made it into the final four of the national championship. Knight’s performance earned him the titles of “All-SEC First Team” and “SEC All-Freshman Team”.

On April 20, 2011, the talented youngster announced his decision to participate in the 2011 NBA Draft, waiving a three-year college qualification.

NBA Career

The Detroit Pistons voted Brandon Knight eighth in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft. Among other highlights of his two-year involvement with the Pistons, Knight was named to the first NBA All-Rookie Team in his debut season and was also featured in the 2012 and 2013 editions of the Rising Stars Challenge.

Brandon Knight, Khris Middleton, and Viacheslav Kravtsov were traded by the Pistons for the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for point guard Brandon Jennings. In his first season with the Bucks, Knight averaged 17.9 points, 4.7 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and one steal per game. In the 2014-15 season, the NBA star once again significantly improved his performance, achieving an average of 17.8 points and career-high 4.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.

Despite a relatively brilliant second season at the Milwaukee Bucks, Brandon Knight was transferred to the Phoenix Suns in a three-team multiplayer deal that also included the Philadelphia 76ers. For the remainder of the 2014-15 season, Knight performed for the Suns only 11 times before suffering a series of injuries that kept him offside until the end of the season. The 2015-16 season can be considered his best season with the Phoenix Suns, as he averaged 19.6 points and 0.4 blocks, with 5.1 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game.

Brandon Knight came most of the 2016-17 season from the bench, where he made only 5 starts in a total of 54 missions and his point average dropped to 11.0 points per game. Unfortunately, he was eliminated for the entire 2017-18 season after suffering an ACL injury to his left knee in the summer of 2017.

In August 2018, Brandon Knight was traded for the Houston Rockets in a swap with Marquese Chriss, which brought Ryan Anderson and De’Anthony Melton to the Phoenix Suns.
