The Croatian national team may consist of well-known players to whom one would like to pay special attention; players like Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic, Mario Mandzukic, and Ivan Perisic, but their striker, Ante Rebic, who may not be as conspicuous as the others, is a remarkable force to be reckoned with.
Who is Ante Rebic?
Rebic, who also plays as a winger (striker), is currently in the service of the German club Eintracht Frankfurt. He was born on 21 September 1993 in Split, Croatia. Ante Rebic is a remarkable goalscorer whose goals are effective and who is known for making a decisive contribution to the coveted victories of his teams.
He scored two goals in the 3-1 win over Bayern Munich in May 2018, with which Eintracht Frankfurt won their first trophy in 30 years. His impressive goal for Croatia against Argentina in a 3-0 win over Argentina in Group D of the 2018 FIFA World Cup earned him the recognition he deserved in his home country and put his name on the map of his country’s football history. Ante Rebic is also one of the up-and-coming players to watch out for.

He started his youth career with Vinjani and then with Imotski from 2008 to 2010. After an outstanding performance in Italy with Hajduk Split in 2010, he moved to RNK Split, where his senior career started. Making his debut with his new team, Ante scored the equalizer in a 1-1 draw with Dinamo Zagreb on 20 May 2011 during the Prva HNL 2010-11, before signing a three-year contract with the club in August 2011 to impress. In August 2013, Ante Rebic signed a five-year contract with Serie A club Fiorentina for an undisclosed fee. He scored his first Serie A goal in a 2-2 draw with Turin on 18 May 2017, two minutes after replacing Manuel Pasqual. He spent most of his time with the club on loan to other clubs: RB Leipzig (one loan for the entire season), Hellas Verona (although he was unable to help the club avoid relegation to Serie B during his nine appearances), and Eintracht Frankfurt, to whom he switched on 11 July 2016, initially on loan for the entire season.
His loan was extended for a further year in August 2017 with an option to buy, before he finally joined them permanently in 2018, following his key role in the DFB Cup win on 19 May 2018. Many clubs, including Tottenham, Manchester United, Arsenal, Napoli, and Bayern Munich, have combined his star appearances at the World Cup with a change of young player.
International Career
After his call-up on 31 July 2013, he started to put on his national jersey. He made his debut in a friendly match against Liechtenstein as a 63rd-minute substitute for Ivica Olic. Rebic earned the praise of his manager Igor Å timac, who scored four minutes after the substitution in a 3-2 victory. He was also voted the most promising player for Croatian football in 2013.

He played as a substitute in both games of the decisive World Cup play-off matches against Iceland in November 2013, having been called up by coach Niko Kovac (whom he says has been instrumental in his move to the current club where he is considered a star). His team secured their place at the 2014 FIFA World Cup with a 2-0 overall win.
Although he was not suspended for Croatia between June 2015 and November 2017, Ante Rebic was appointed to the squad of coach Zlatko Dalic for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Ante Rebic will be one of the best players in Europe and is considered by many to be the biggest discovery at the 2018 World Cup. He still has his whole professional life ahead of him and would seal his place in football history in no time if he were to continue in this form.
